Q: 1. Is it compatible with Sunwayfoto DP-26? Do you a photo with this two assembled? Is this a good choice to use a small snapshot (Nikon aw120)? or do you have a better one? (the plate and the base)Thanks

A: Yes, the Sunwayfoto DDC-26 Mini Screw-Knob Clamp is compatible with the Sunwayfoto DP-26. Unfortunately, we do not have an image with the two items assembled. These two products will be a great choice for a compact camera system such as the Nikon AW120.

Q: 2. Does this work with the Peak Design plate attached to the camera?

A: Yes, the Peak Design PL-S-3 Standard Plate and the Peak Design Dual Plate v2 for Capture Camera Clip should be compatible for use on the Sunwayfoto Macro Focusing Rail with Screw-Knob Clamp.

Q: 3. Can this rail be used as a nodal rail for panoramas?

A: No this is for macro use

Q: 4. Is it compatible with Sunwayfoto CR-30C ?

A: The Sunwayfoto DDC-26 Mini Screw-Knob Clamp is not directly compatible with the Sunwayfoto CR-30C. The CR-30C already features an Arca compatible mount. If one wanted to mount a camera using the the DDC-26, one could mount it onto the 1/4 20 male connector on a small Arca compatable quick release plate that would mount onto the Sunwayfoto CR-30C quick release clamp.

Q: 5. How does the rail mount to tripod?

A: The bottom of the rail has standard threads for mounting (like any camera) but the entire rail itself is compatible with any arca-type mount and this allows you to move the entire rail back and forth.

Q: 6. Does it perform well with focus stacking?

A: Yes, this will work well for stacking and is a good alternative to the more expensive models.

Q: 7. Does anyone know if the the Varavon Armor GH4 cage will slide into this?

A: No problem. Perhaps all four edges of the dovetail plate are undercut, I'm not sure from the pictures. If they are all undercut then you could use the sunway clamp or any other clamp with no problem. Maybe if you pose that question to people who have purchased the cage and they could confirm. Regards.

Q: 8. Can the sliding part be reversed so clamp knob doesn't interfere with crank handle?

A: The crank can be used on either end of the rail.

Q: 9. Hi! If this is mounted vertically on a copy stand (for use as a "microscope" setup), would the action be smooth and precise, even at 4x magnification? It would be a working distance of about 10mm from microscope objective to subject. This would be a ≈5lb. camera/lens setup attached to this rail. If this isn't a suitable rail, could someone recommend one that would work well? Thank you!

A: Because it is a heavier camera and lens set up, I would probably not use this one unfortunately. The one that I would trust the most would be the following: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/554343-REG/Manfrotto_454_454_Micrometric_Positioning_Sliding.html Due to the fact that you can screw down a tension knob that very securely locks it into place. This would be the strongest one that I would recommend for a setup such as yours.

Q: 10. Does this come with any mounting screws?

A: Yes. Unit come with the following 1/4"-20 Adapter Bushing M6 Slot Screw

I've only had this rail for a short time, and therefore limited use, but so far so good. It feels like a quality build. The screw mechanism works smoothly. I really enjoy the compatibility with the swiss arca tripod mount. It quickly slides onto my tripod head, allowing me to position it several inches forward or back. The camera plate attaches quickly as well. For 100 bucks, I think it's good value!

Precision quality machining. Very impressive macro focusing rail

I really like the macro focusing rail. It gives me enough travel to move in close to an object without having to move the tripod. Having it slip in and out in an Arca clamp extends that travel.

The unit is well made. However, I do wish they had added at set screw to the ratchet handle. I'm afraid I'm going to loose it.

Very happy with this rail. Have gotten photos in the wild that otherwise I would not have gotten. The flower pic is focus stacked. For stacking I take off the 'extra' handle for spinning. For getting spider or bug that is moving use the extra handle to quickly get subject in focus and fire away. The spinning handle is easily removed which I consider a feature and not a bug. I've mounded my rail on a panning clamp so I can make quick sideways moves with out moving my tripod.

I'm very pleased with this purchase. The unit is extremely well constructed. I use it with a Canon 1DS Mark II (heavy) with the Canon 65mm M-PE Macro (heavy) and it rides smoothly throughout the image stacking process. I couldn't be more pleased.

Looks well made, fits snugly into my Acratech ballhead, and works smoothly. I like the adjustment from both ends. Right now I am using it with an Olympus Air for macro-scientific work and it is exactly as required.

This is a great macro rail for the price. It's got a very simple mechanism with no real play in the tolerances between the moving parts that results in smooth camera movement.

The rail is very light and has a low profile so it doesn't take up much room at all. There's nothing I can really fault with the design.

While it's obvious that the handle introduces a fair amount of wobble due to the off-centre rotation, the wobble is largely from the tripod and head and is only noticeable if you were to try and move the rail from one end to the other quite fast. For focus stacking, this shouldn't be an issue and if so you can always use the thumb screw on the other end.

I've used over a half dozen focusing rails over the years. A problem with nearly all stable units has been bulk. This one is of minimal dimensions, suitable for taking in the field where minimal bulk and weight are important, yet handles the largest of my macro lens/camera combinations at 5 lbs. (Nikon D500 and 200mm f/4 lens) in both vertical and horizontal orientation. The focusing screw mechanism is smooth and does not require use of the included lock. Both Arca-Swiss mounts allow for ease of mounting and macro adjustment, the base especially for crude adjustment for focus distance and balance before fine adjustments with the screw mechanism. My only complaint, not enough to reduce my rating, is that the lock for the camera or lens mount on top has the lock knob facing the rear, which interferes with full use of focusing distance because the lock screw hits the focus screw-knob (see photos). I may attempt to take the unit apart to see if the top part can be reversed, but number of parts makes it intimidating!
