This is the most solid tripod I have ever owned; I totally trust my expensive gear to be mounted on it without any concerns. It is easy to use and very stable with a Nikon D850 and a 200-500 mm lens attached.

If you can get it on sale it's only twice as much as a comparable Sirui. Be nice if they threw in spikes (took mine off the Sirui which fit) and as others have noted a center post hook. But smooth? Oh yea!

It's an essential tool for my travel photography because it can hold weight and it's small. Holds a medium format DSLR and there isn't a lot of camera shake on longer exposures with some wind. It is beautifully designed. It is light. It is expensive. It will hopefully last me for years though.

Have 8 tripods, Gitzo is always the best

I’ve packed this tripod on Multi day canoe camping trips on rivers and day hikes in the mountains and in canyons. It is light, compact, and sturdy for its weight. I’ve used it with lenses up to the Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6 on a D500 Body.

It worth every penny. Don’t waste your money risk buying 100 dollar tripod if you are using a camera system that worth more than 2k. They won’t do the job or they would easily collapse. Eventually, you would get some thing like this. Word from a customer who had already bought 3 tripods before and finally bought the Gitzo.

I would recommend this tripod - excellent build quality for the premium price - my only issue is that it should have the Gitzo GC2202T Padded Traveler Tripod Bag Series 2 included.

This is by far the sturdiest tripod I've owned. The build quality is really spectacular. I searched for the strongest tripod I could find which collapses down to around 24". This one fit my needs perfectly. I decided to buy this version with the Gitzo ball head. It's build quality and operation are everything you'd expect from Gitzo. Although, I did need to tighten the two screws that hold the quick release plate to the ball. The green crinkle paint matches perfectly with the tripod. It's a beautiful and functional set.

I’ve been shooting a Gitzo 2-series Mountaineer for several years and absolutely love it, but its achilles heal is size. This tripod is everything I could possibly ask for in a tripod: strong, stabile, lightweight and travel sized. Right-sized for carry-on and can fit inside a backpack without disassembly. A travel tripod that does not sacrifice strength. Superb Gitzo quality (of course, it better be because of the high price).

So far I'm loving the quality and minimal weight this Gitzo offers! Of course, time will tell! The most impressive aspect is how sturdy this tripod is! Solid as a rock. I've used larger tripods that have far more movement. Not sure how the wind will play with it yet!
