The adjustable Deluxe Varipole Support System (Pair) from Impact offers two Varipoles to create a functional studio backdrop and grip system. The Varipole easily and quickly mounts between floor and ceiling providing stable support for backdrops, reflectors, lights and grip accessories. With a strong tension mechanism and locking system, the Varipole is secured by its own force of pressure between solid walls or floors and ceilings. Adjustable between 6'11" (2.1 m) and 12'1" (3.7 m), the Deluxe Varipole is capable of turning most rooms into a photo studio without damage to walls or ceilings. The Varipole is available in black powder or brushed aluminum silver finishes.

This Varipole set comes with two Varipoles of the same color at a budget-friendly price and will allow you more capability and load bearing strength. Purchase a cross-bar to hang a complex lighting set-up for portraiture or even stage lighting.

A: No, the Impact Deluxe Varipole Support System with Metal Chain Kit top and bottom need to be level. It can not be slanted.

Q: 4. will this work with the 140 wide 50ft long ream of Savage paper?

A: I/We use two of these... one with 107 and one with 140. The plastic chains are an issue on both. The chains are not very robust. With that said, I'm happy with the product over all. I would repurchase.

Q: 5. What is the difference between this system and the Manfrotto system?

A: The differences between this background support and the Manfrotto 2961D has to do with the locking mechanism on each pole. The Manfrotto Deluxe Autopole would unlock by pulling the handle downward then pulling it towards you. With the Impact Varipole, you have the same control but with an added lock around the handle for extra security. Otherwise they offer similar height and weight, with the Impact Varipole being more budget friendly.

Q: 6. The ceiling in my room is slanted at an angle. Will this work?

A: No it won't work. The ceiling has to be flat.

Q: 7. does impact make a Base to turn it into free standing tripods like the manfrotto version?

A: Impact does not offer bases for the Varipoles, but the Manfrotto 032 Base Single Base For Auto-Pole - 2 Pack (Silver) B&H # MA032BASE2K can work with them.

Q: 8. What's the width of the setup? Length of the horizontal pole?

A: The Impact Basic Varipole Support System comes with two Impact 59" Varipole Extension (Silver) that connect together. So the full width of that setup is 118 inches.

Q: 9. What is the Outer diameter of the each pole?

A: According to the manufacturer, the base pole is 45mm while the riser pole is 40mm.

Q: 10. How much width is needed for this to work with 107'' Paper? we have 138 inches but I Presume the varidrives also require space?

A: About a inch bigger than the paper.

Compared to Manfrotto - no air cushion when collapsing - can be sticky to extend unless the latch is fully open - slightly heavier - does the same job at half the price 5

The poles are great. They are stable, have a good/solid feel when extended, and 'locked' to the the ceiling and floor. They easily hold the LED panel lights I put on there. The crossbeam is also nice, it can either be used in the poles as extensions for taller ceilings or used as a crossbeam. I have used some cheaper poles in the past as crossbeams, but when run longer distances, there is quite a lot of bend to them, and it's hard to position lights or even with backdrops there's some 'sag' to it which makes it harder to control wrinkles. This crossbeam bar is thick enough that there is no bend to it at all. The only negative for cloth backdrops would be that the beam is too big to fit in the sewn pocket of the backdrops I have, but then again, that wasn't it's purpose, so I can't knock it for that! 5

High quality and fairly easy to install. The poles are a large tension rod that fits vertically between floor and ceiling or horizontally between two walls. Saves at least 2 feet of space. Poles and crossbar are thick, so regular A clamps won't fit easily, if at all. Need super big clips or use pocket seam to hang muslins. Need super clamps and angle bracket to mount a monolight. They work, but you could do without the extension tubes as a crossbar. Just use chain link fence rod. 5
