Ive only had this drive for about a week; so take this review with a grain of salt.

I did a lot of research before purchasing this drive. I do video editing, and so I needed fast speeds and constant throughput. This drive has that in spades. I like that it has enterprise-level drives, which means a lot more reads and writes and longevity.

The drive does get noisy when in operation, but nothing overwhelming. Its not silent. Lets put it that way.

PROS

Super fast
Inexpensive
Thunderbolt 3
Small
Robust

CONS

Slightly noisy

Very pleased with the purchase.

I bought it primarily for its raw performance, so using the G-Technology RAID Configurator  set it up in RAID 0. I use it as the location for my Capture One Pro 12 referenced RAW files (85mb /file RAW & 250mb/file tiff, on average) and it substantially increased file download and processing speeds. Using Blackmagic I consistently measured speeds above 500gbs. Do note that RAID 1 (mirroring) will yield speeds of only 90+gbs. I did expect lower through-put in RAID 0 but 1/5th the speed? Otherwise very solid build, easy access to the 2 drives and clearly provides full Thunderbolt 3 speeds on my Mac. I schedule nightly full back-ups to a 3rd drive.

Solid, like a rock. It performs as advertised, as of this post. This is one of maybe a dozen G drives I've purchased. They've never let me down.

I got this to finally get my lightroom library all in one place on a disk I feel confident about.  Set it up in the protected mode so Ill always have a back up incase one of these fails.  This is supposed to slow down performance a bit - I find it to be very fast.  Set up was pretty easy - up and running within 30 minutes what is good for me (Im generally just OK with this kind of stuff).  Very happy

blistering fast compared to tb2. i had the same RAID in tb2 and used an adapter to go to tb3 on imac pro and tb2 drives were sounding strange and one day did not mount at all (mounted eventually). so decided that i need tb3. very happy. mounts and unmounts fast. fast transnfer of data. comes with tb3 cable which is skimpy in size and should be
longer (around 3’). so i bought a 6.6’ cable. be aware tb3 cables come in passive and active rating. passive ok up to 3’. over that you need an active cable otherwise speed and ability of transfering data will be compromised. active cables are expensive.

I picked up this drive for capacity and speed. No surprise, it nails it there. Works pretty fast over USB-C 3.0 to if you dont have TB3. Only thing to keep in mind is there is a little more you have to do if you want this thing a Windows only drive. Mac its plug and play. Must have for all editors working off laptops with TB3.

Super fast drive! Ive been a Lacie guy forever but the power button on the back is what eventually made me switch over. The power button lets me easily turn off all my daisy chained drives for the weekend. Works great with my other Lacie drives as well.

This cable works great; simple, plug-and-play hassle-free driver. I use it to connect a MIDI controller to my Mac. Well worth it, especially since similar cables cost a lot more.

Easy to set up as a RAID.  Also, many reviewers complained about the noise.  This drive is no noisier than any other external drive that I have had.  Case is all metal and durable.  Highly recommend.

The previous review was the only negative one I've seen on the web, and it seems misinformed. The product is not advertised as needing or having a driver on cd. It worked right away with no extra work, creating its own MIDI setup on my computer. BUT, (1) you have to pay attention to the MIDI connector colors (plug the red one into your instrument's MIDI OUT port), AND (2) do some MIDI setup on your instrument (e.g. local control=OFF for playback). Finally, (3) it's not an audio cable, it's a midi cable, so understand the difference. It carries MIDI signals for music software, not sound for recording.
