The matte gray Schoeps CMC 1 Table Set MK 41 is a space-saving Colette Series tabletop supercardioid condenser microphone bundle designed to provide shotgun-like directivity performance along with frequency-independent directionality, high immunity from RF interference, and transparent, low-distortion sound pickup of speech for critical audio and video conferencing applications.

It includes the CMC 1 miniature microphone amplifier, the MK 41 supercardioid condenser capsule, the T 20 table stand, and a stand clamp. Thanks to the inclusion of the ultracompact CMC 1, this bundle serves as a lighter and smaller alternative to the CMC 6 without compromising sonic performance. It can be powered via 12 or 48 VDC phantom power.

The CMC 1 is a miniature Colette Series microphone amplifier offering uncompromising high fidelity in a lightweight and ultracompact form factor for studio recording, broadcast, and live stage applications. Presented as an alternative to the renowned Schoeps CMC 6 amplifier, the CMC 1 is compatible with all existing MK mic capsules and Colette active accessories (available separately).

It features a balanced XLR output, compliance with 12 or 48V phantom power, and low current consumption. Its Schoeps RFI Shield provides high immunity from RF interference for a clean, low-noise signal. The CMC 1 supports the high maximum SPLs tolerated by the various MK mic capsules.

  • Complete alternative to the renowned CMC 6 amplifier
  • Can be used in place of the CMC 6 with no compromise
  • Electrical characteristics of the CMC 1 are equal to, or even better than, those of the CMC 6
  • 1.4" long (about a third the size of the CMC 6)
  • 1.3 ounces (about 40% lighter than the CMC 6)
  • Fully compatible with all existing MK capsules and Colette active accessories such as the CUT 60 and RC tubes
  • Very-high immunity from RF interference with the Schoeps RFI Shield
  • Includes mic clip for easy attachment to a mic stand
  • Suspension mounts such as the Rycote INV-6 are available separately

The Schoeps MK 41 is part of the Colette series of modular capsules designed for use with the CMC mic amplifiers. The MK 41 effectively attenuates diffuse sound energy and produces a clear, "dry" sound pickup. Its polar pattern is exceptionally frequency independent; sounds from the side and back are strongly attenuated, but picked up without false coloration. This feature has made the MK 41 an international standard for indoor film sound.

The susceptibility of the MK 41 to acoustic feedback is lower than with any other Schoeps capsule type, provided that no loudspeaker radiates directly from the rear. The sensitivity minimum of the supercardioid occurs at approximately a 125° angle of incidence. The directional effect is independent of frequency, so that off-axis and diffuse sound are picked up free of false coloration, thus sounding natural. That is a real advantage over shotgun microphones, which have appreciably greater directivity only at higher frequencies, and frequency response (and thus sound quality) that depends on the direction of sound incidence.

Thus for many situations, the MK 41 offers an interesting alternative to a shotgun microphone, even if its small dimensions do not appear to suggest high directivity. As a capsule without an interference tube in front of it, the MK 41 can also be placed closer to the sound source.

This elegant miniature table base with variable inclination and insulation from solid-borne sound can be used unobtrusively. An elegant cable routing is achieved when the cable (available separately) is hung in the wire eyelet, which is located between the pins and bottom plate.

The T 20 can also be operated without the vertical spacer if it is intended to be used near the table. The 3/8" table flange F 5 (available separately) is suitable for a fixed installation at the table.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this also compatible with the C500 Mk II / C300 Mk III?

A: The ARRI Basic Cine Set for Canon C300 Mk II is not compatible with the C500 Mk II / C300 Mk III.

Q: 2. Would this Rycote Windshield Kit accommodate the DPA 4018C combination?

A: The DPA will be too long to fit in this windsheild.

Q: 3. What's the difference between the 6 and the 6U amplifier??? Thanks

A: TheCMC 6U is the a CMC 6 preamplifier that operates with phantom power. There are other CMC 6 models of this preamp that can operate with batteries or connect to wireless systems.

Q: 4. Hello , Could I add a splitter to the 3.5mm and trigger two sigma fp's at the same time? in sync?

A: Unfortunately, using a splitter with the CR-41 Cable Release would not effectively trigger both cameras at the same time.

Q: 5. Looking to store an mkh8050 and 2x mkh50s in a run bag (using this one: BH #POCSDV4U ). I leave the Rycote INV mk3 shockmounts on the mics for convenience, as well as the foam windscreens (bubblebee spacer BH #BUBBISBXS & rycote super softie BH #RYWSQAT) for additional protection. am currently putting the mics in these porta brace zipper bags (BH #POCSB93 ) to separate them within the run bag, but wanted to see if there's anything slightly larger (to fit w/ the foam windscreens, not just the rycote shockmounts) & slightly more robust in terms of protection?

A: Perhaps you can use something like the OP/TECH USA Lens/Filter Pouch, Large (B&H # OPPLFL) which is 9" high and has a 4.5" diameter, or the Ruggard Fold-Over Neoprene Lens Pouch - 3.5 x 6", Black (B&H # RULPNF35X60) or the Tenba Soft Neoprene Lens Pouch - Black, 9 x 4.8" (B&H # TETSLP948B). The Tenba Soft Molded EVA Lens Capsule with Extra Padding - Black, 9 x 4.8" (B&H # TE636359) has a more structured design for added protection. Even though these items are intended for use with camera lenses, they certainly can be used to protect the Sennheiser MKH 8050 Compact Supercardioid Condenser Microphone together with the windscreens and perhaps with the shockmount too.

Q: 6. Will this work for the DPA 4018c? Seems like it would due to the size of comparable mics.

A: Yes, the Rycote 041110 InVision INV-6 SOFT Shockmount is compatible for use with the DPA Microphones 4018C Compact Supercardioid Microphone,

Q: 7. will this work with the CMC 1 and cut 60?

A: Yes, this should work with the CMC1 and the Cut 60 capsule together.

Q: 8. Hello! With this microphone amplifier, will I still need phantom power to connect a condenser microphone to a camera like the Sony A7SIII, or a recorder like the Atomos Ninja V? If so, what do you recommend?

A: This amplifier is designed to work with the Shoeps MK series capsules, and will still require phantom power to run.

Q: 9. Would mounting this on camera work well when trying to get audio of a moving documentary subject?

A: Yes, the Schoeps CMC641 Set Colette Series Supercardioid Microphone Set could indeed serve as a high-quality on-camera microphone for capturing the audio of subjects in close range situations. The camera would need to be equipped with a 48V capable XLR input connection to accommodate the Schoeps.

Q: 10. What is the full length of the cable?

A: The Sigma CR-41 is about 40 inches long.
