Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it compatible with Apple iPhone 6S? I just purchased it based in the answers for iPhone 5S, but so far I have not been able to record the input from a variety of external mikes that I've hooked up through this adaptor. Am I missing something or is the configuration different?

A: Do the mcs you've used require external power? Because neither the iPhone nor this adapter will provide power. I can confirm that this adapter WILL will work with any recent iPhone if you use a self-powered mic.

Q: 2. I need to send audio to my ipad to use with promtsmart which is a voice activated prompter app. Can I use this to take a feed from an audio mixer such as the Zoom F8 to go into the headset 3.5mm of the ipad pro? Would an audio xlr to 1/8 extension from the mixer work with this adapter?

A: I'm not sure because my use was for different equipment and applications.Sorry.

Q: 3. Is the Rode SC4 compatible with iphone 5s?

A: Yes it is compatible.

Q: 4. What's the purpose of this adapter?

A: This adaptor will allow you to connect a microphone with a standard male 3.5mm TRS connector to a smartphone, with a 3.5mm TRRS connection.

Q: 5. Does this fit the 5543LS Gitzo tripod? fyi RRS lists the weight of this base - Weight: 19.9oz / 563g.

A: The Really Right Stuff TA-4 Leveling Base with Low-Profile Knob B&H # REVS4LBLPH will fit the Gitzo 5543LS.

Q: 6. I just purchased an SC4 3.5mm TRS to TRRS adaptor hoping to connect my Apogee Element 88 to my iPhone 11. My signal chain looks like this - MacBook Pro - Apogee 88 - TRS RCA Cable - SC4 3.5mm TRS to TRRS adaptor - to Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter. The iPhone is not recognizing the mic. Is it possible to use SC4 3.5mm TRS to TRRS adaptor with and RCA cable line out?

A: Upon looking at the Element 88, we notice there are no RCA outputs on the unit. You may be referring to the 1/4'' outputs on the back of the unit. If this is correct, and the cabling is as you suggested with 1/4'' outputs from the ALT out, then technically signal should pass. You may need to look at your DAW outputs and ensure you are sending signal to the ALT outputs and not just the mains. An alternative to that many adapters would be this cable, used from the 1/4'' outputs, and connected right the the Apple lightning to headphone adapter BH #SEIPSUMTS3.

Q: 7. Can I use this to hook up an external mic to an iphone 8?

A: Yes you can.

Q: 8. Can I plug my Rode mic into this converter and then plug this converter into my USB-C adapter?

A: Yes! exactly how you said it in that order.

Q: 9. I have a Rode Video mic that I want to plug into Iphone, do I need to buy TRRS Female to Lightning Audio-Interface Cable for iPhone (3.2") to make it work, or will this Item solve my problem?

A: Yes, you need the Rode SC4 conversion cable and Apple adapter cable for connection to iPhone.

Q: 10. Has the compatibility with the iPhone 6S been worked out in the app?? Are there currently any issues with the app on an iPad Air 2 with the most current iOS?

A: It works fine with the iPhone 6s. I have tested it with the Rode VideoMic Pro and with a Sennheiser EW 112-p G3 wireless, using the Rode Record app and Hindenburg Pro and I've had no issues.
