CyberPower's CP550SLG Standby UPS has a capacity of 550VA/330W, eight (8) NEMA 5-15R receptacles, widely-spaced to accommodate transformer-based plugs. The unit was designed to safeguard a home office as well as other electronics (monitors, printers, scanners, speakers, fax machines, CD/DVD players and iPods) from surges, spikes, sags, and brownouts.

Its design allows for horizontal or vertical placement, or it can be conveniently mounted on a wall. This UPS has a maintenance-free, 12V/5.5Ah battery and offers connectivity via one (1) HID USB port. Lastly, protection for phone/network (RJ11) is also included.

A: There is no simple answer to that question, as it depends on what the load is. It could be 30 minutes or it could be 5 minutes. A small, low power computer with the monitor not on battery might last 30-40 minutes, where a PC with a large power supply, high power video card, 4 hard drives, and three 27 monitors all connected to battery will go pretty fast. If you know the actual power requirements of your connected gear, you can approximate with your own math. If unsure, get a bigger unit.

It works as advertised. I get random power outages in my city where the power goes out for like 1 second and comes right back on. Well, it damaged my surround sounds and tv, both of which stopped working a month apart from each other. I have a suspicion that it was due to the power outage. So I got this item and it took care of that problem and I feel good that my very expensive new tv and new surround sounds are protected. I do recommend this product, price point is really good. 5

My big complaint about UPS units (not limited to this one) is that only half of the available outlets supply battery backup. I needed an additional UPS for several low-draw accessories because my larger UPS couldn't accommodate all of them. That being said, this is a very nice unit, good power characteristics, and good outlet placement for those odd-shaped plugs. 5

This new unit works well and this my second CyberPower back up power supply. I am very satisfied with both the older one and the new one. We have had a number of power disruptions in our area and the CyberPower CP550SLG Standby UPS has saved the day. I recommend this product. 5

I just bought this less than a week ago and we just had a power outage the other night and it performed perfectly. I have a a desktop computer, monitor and inkjet printer connected to the battery backup side and I had plenty of time to shut everything down properly. It also caught the power surges that were coming before the power went completely out. It's also a lot lighter than the unit it replaced, so it's much easier to handle and position to where you need it. I will buy another one when I need to replace another unit. 5

I bought three CP550SLG, stand-by UPS power units. They work out of the box without any kind of problem. I have installed them to protect my three computer areas in my home and home office. We already had a power outage and the two systems that were working continue to work for about the 8 minutes of the outage duration. If you own any kind of expensive electronic equipment at home or office, I strongly recommend getting this stand-by UPS system. There is nothing like peace of mind! 5
