Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have a 190XPROB Tripod currently and am wanting to know if the Nitrotech 608 will mount to my plate?

A: This head has a 3/8"-16 Thread which you will be able to attach to a flat base tripod like the 190XPROB. They are compatible.

Q: 2. What is different about this from the Manfrotto Nitrotech N8?

A: The load capacity and many other features are the same as the N8. However this model offers upgraded fluid technology which enables smooth and judder-free pan and tilt movements thanks to a continuously variable drag performance.

Q: 3. is this Nitrotech different from the traditional fluid head? thanks

A: It's a slightly different engineering concept (nitrogen pistons) than a traditional fluid head, but functions the same way. :)

Q: 4. What is the diameter of the pipe?

A: It's metric, 3.1 cm (a bit over 1 3/16 ).

Q: 5. will this work for a canon fx 300 video camera or is it designed for smaller dslrs?

A: As long as your camcorder has 3/8 -16 female tripod sockets to connect the camera to the Manfrotto 131DD Tripod Accessory Arm (or you will be using a tripod head on the threads to convert to the smaller 1/4 -20 threads, and as long as the tripod can support the weight of the arm and the camcorders you wish to connect to the arm, it should be compatible for your usage needs.

Q: 6. what if my gears are let's say only 2kg in some setups. the Counterbalance is still going to work?

A: The load will need to be between (8.8 to 26.4 lb / 3.99 to 11.97 kg) for proper performance.

Q: 7. There is a significant price difference between the black version of this arm ($123) and the silver version ($170). That is a big difference for a difference in color. Are the two versions the same in features? Is the silver version made of a higher grade metal?

A: Currently the price difference is not as broad as this. As to why there is a any difference in price, we would go with the explanation the chrome plating costs more. Also know that retail pricing is not linear. It is based on cost, supply and demand. Those factors are what determine price. A much cheaper price might reflect too much inventory and the product must be moved. A high price might reflect short supply and high demand as well as manufacturing cost.

Q: 8. How far from the tripod mount can one of the top mounts be positioned?

A: From the center of the center mount to the center of the end mount it can be up to around 16 inches.

Q: 9. Does it come with the two camera support platforms/clamps shown in the photo?

A: Yes the Manfrotto 131DDB Tripod Accessory Arm for Four Heads (Black) comes with the two camera supports on top and one on each side as shown in the photos.

Q: 10. Would this hold the weight of a 27 inch Imac?

A: No, Manfrotto 131DDB Tripod Accessory Arm for Four Heads (Black) is made to support the weigh of most cameras. It can work with a laptop. But the weight of a 27 inch iMac is to heavy.

great when in the studio or out and about....i put my camera on one side and my laptop ( on a table) on the other side....now i can see the focus and composition much clearer, since i'm viewing throught the macbook...when using lightroom, you can just concentrate on the larger screen image and trigger your camera from there...i'm tethered of course....definitely a winner...

This accessory arm is just the ticket if you need to mount multiple items on your tripod. It's rock-solid, and the large wheels and levers making tightening and loosening a snap. It's heavy, but that's a plus for stability.

I use the arm for my in-studio work for tethered shooting. I set my camera on one side of the arm and have a laptop with running software on the other side. The setup is very sturdy coupled with Manfrotto tripod. Make sure that clamps/fixtures are tighten properly. No clutter, I can fold everything down very quickly and take it to work on-location. Good product. Thanks, Bogen and BH Photo.

Rig a laptop and your camera to a tripod. Let your client ooh an ahhhhhh in real time. Problems, additional weight and cell phone etiquette. Expect people to pull out a cell and take a pick of your monitor, effectively loosing sales or being disappointed before retouching. Still well made and I love it.

Have used this several times in the studio and repeatedly on location shooting food shots for a restaurant chain. I mount my canon on one side tethered to my laptop on the other side and the shots come up in full 17 inch color. The marketing types hone in on exactly the shot that they need and it's a win win situation. In the studio I spin the laptop around and the client gets to see exactly what I'm capturing. This really seems to loosen up the uptight ones and inspire them all to ham it up a little more. I would highly recommend this as a solid piece of gear.

This product is intended to be used to mount mult5iple cameras, and it will do that very well, but it can also be used to mount a vaiety of other items like multiple lights. The build quality is excellent and the overall design and dimensions have been virtualy unchanged in the past 20 years and no attemps have been made to cut corners on materials over the years - a good indication that the design was always very effective. The arm can also be used as a rigid vertical extension for a tripod by adding a Manfrotto CONVERTER PLATE f/1/4-20 SOCKET HDS between the arm and the tripod and re-mounting the tripod head on the other end of the now vertical arm. For some macro applications I've also used it as a horizontal extension on a 055 tripod and mounted the tripod head on the extended end. Some newer tripods have a convertable center column - mine don't and this does the same thing. Not lightweight, but well made and so versitile in a variety of applications (using other Manfrotto items) that I keep several around.

I usually don't write reviews, but this product is so GREAT, I had to share the experience. I needed a rig that I could mount two small cameras on one tripod head (for recording sporting events where I needed a wide angle shot and a close up shot that tracked together). I know this is NOT the intended use of this product, however, if you are using small lightweight cameras and a heavy duty tripod with a solid head, this works great! Up until now I was using a homemade rig out of spare parts, and was eventually going to make a custom platform that was more sturdy. Then I discovered the Manfrotto 131DDB Accessory Arm. This item is everything I was looking for and more. It's extremely sturdy, incredibly functional, and easy to set-up and tear down!! The camera mounts, slide horizontally as well as pivot (i.e. tilt) on the arm to allow for easy alignment of two cameras. It also has mounts on both ends to mount additional accessories. All of the screws are 3/8-16 inch so you will need 3/8-16 to 1/4-20 screw adapters to mount standard accessories. I purchased (from B&H) two Desmond DTR-1 3/8-16 to 1/4-20 adapters that were a perfect match with this accessory arm. If you are going to mount this to a standard quick release plate, you will also need a reducing bushing (i.e. Manfrotto 148KN Reducing Bushing, or equiv). Again, keep in mind that this is NOT the intended use of this arm, but for light weight cameras and accessories, along with a good sturdy tripod, it worked for me fine. I would also recommend purchasing a small tripod bag to store the accessory arm and for easy transport to field events. This is one of the best purchases and pieces of equipment I own, and I'm sure it will be used extensively and diversely for many years!!
