Q: 2. Does this bag fit as a carry on item? thanks

A: Yes, you can take this bag as a carry on but always best to check with the airline.

Q: 3. Will a 15" Mac Book Pro fit over the top of the camera gear as opposed to in the tablet pocket? I don't need to carry my laptop on any hikes but I do want to transport it on the airplane.

A: Yes this will fit an Apple Macbook Pro 15" over top of the camera equiptment.

Q: 4. Does the F-stop medium core unit fit (11.5" width, vs 11.4" for the for Shimoda unit)? I really like the strap connections on the F-stop unit for carry on.

A: Unfortunately, the F-Stop Medium Core Unit has not been tested specifically with the Shimoda Designs Explore v2 30 Photo Backpack to our knowledge. Your results may vary.

Q: 5. Anyone tried to fit a 13 Macbook Pro 2017 in the pocket?

A: I've a MacBook Pro 13' 2015 and it does fit nicely in the front pocket.A 15' version would be too big.

Q: 6. Does the Shimoda Explore v2 30l fit under an airline seat?

Q: 7. Will this pack hold a canon 5d s with a canon 100-400 attached? I realize it will with the lens unattached.

A: Sorry I returned the bag, wasnt right for me. But it did fit with my 70-200.

Q: 8. How does a travel tripod fit in/on the bag?

A: I use a MeFoto Backpacker Air, by placing it on the side pocket where you'd usually place a water bottle. Then there's two cinch straps to keep it sturdy and close to the backpack without any swaying or movement. Also there's two identical water bottle pockets so you have the flexibility to place it on either side depending on your balance for that day. Hope that helps..

Q: 9. Hi - does this only open from one side? The other side has the sleeves for filters but you cannot access the gear inside?

A: Yes, the Shimoda Designs Explore v2 30 Backpack Photo Starter Kit can only access the inside of the bag from one side pocket.

Q: 10. 1 ANSWERSWill an Canon 80D with a Canon 24-104 mm attached and a 50 mm fit?

A: It should! I put a 5D mark IV with a 35mm lens AND Really Right Stuff L-Bracket attached and it is just a hair big but fits. The 80D and 70D is about 1/2" shorter and slimmer than the 5D mark IV so it shouldn't have a problem.

Easy to use online ordering. Amazingly fast delivery service. Product as described. Backpack is extremely comfy with plenty of room for my camera gear and room up top for personal stuff. Very happy with every aspect of my purchase.

I actually use this as my carry around pack for my 70mm refractor telescope. It fits in the bag with the diagonal and TeleVue mount attached, plus two eyepieces, and mirrorless body. I keep a table top tripod and small pier on the outside in the pockets and strapped in. It awesome. I'll ad that I chose this pack particularly after learning that the main divider between the top and bottom compartments is partially removable and folds down to make space for larger items, around 500mm.

Great photo backpack, got 250 and 350 (for my wife and myself). Hard to find a backpack that allows to carry two water bottles for longer hikes.

I've got the bigger 450AW one where its all one large compartment. That ones great cause I can fit a ton of stuff on projects I don't know what I will or wont need.

This one I can bring the basics. My GH5, plus 4 lens, Variable ND filters, mic, and cleaning kit and still have room to put in a lunch or other odds and ends.

Super comfortable for all day hikes. Holds my Fuji X-T2 and two extra lenses with room to spare, as well as some fishing gear and food/water for side diversions on my photo hikes.

)Very comfortable when loaded with gear. The quality is superb as expected from Lowepro. Accessing the back compartment is easy especially when I need to switch between lenses. In term of camera storage, it holds Oly EM1 + 7-14, 12-50, Fish eye, Rokinon 12 + Haida 100 mm filters. the only thing that is missing (I speak for my self) is room for hydration pack. Tripod can be mounted easily on the external straps (I use theManfrotto190go! Aluminum Tripod) or side pockets if using light tripod.

This is my new favorite bag (Flipside Trek BP 450) for a full frame photography day hike/outing.  I currently have the Pro Tactic which is certainly a more robust bag that holds more gear.  I would recommend that bag for someone carrying more stuff like a hybrid shooter or a photography professional.  You can toss that bag around and you have way more room for more gear, but it is heavy.  That bag empty without gear is heavy and bulky and not what I want on my back hiking/traveling.  I am 6-1 and this is the sweet spot in bag size for me.

This bag is more meant for travel/outdoor photography.  I regularly carry this 5-10 miles to a distant location such as a waterfall, rock formation, etc and it brings all my gear with a little room for the other items you need.

I can hold a Sony Full Frame Holy Trinity Zoom Kit (16-35 f2.8, 24-100 f4 and 100-400 f4-5.6 with Teleconverter/lens hoods + full Lee filter set + batteries + tripod using only the camera/lens section of the bag.  Getting the 24-70 in there would be tight but you could do it.  With this set up, the other areas of the bag are open for your non-photo gear or specialty item.

I can also hold a full astro, night photo or light painting kit in this bag.

This bag is to large for street photography or a micro 4/3 set up.  I use a Lowepro ViewPoint BP 250 for a small gear day.  I like that the bag is green, looks more like e hiking day pack.

The rain cover is nice but would have preferred it on the bottom.  The flipside feature will combine handy the rare time you are walking a stream or in the mud and want to switch a lens, but any other time you will take the bag off like normal.  I think the buckles will break at some point and I will replace them with normal ones when that happens.

If you are hiking with a camera body and few lens, this is a great backpack. My D500 and two lens fit easily into the flipside area. I liked the ability to access my equipment without having to take the backpack off. However you can't have the waistbelt too tight or it won't rotate. The side pockets easily accommodate a small travel tripod and water bottle. The other accessory straps can be used to hold trek poles.
