A: This chart is for big budget video productions. At that level you need everything to be operating at top level. This chart will make sure your cameras lenses are calibrated to the highest degree possible. In such a high level big budget situation, the high cost of the chart is chump change when reputations and corporate budgets are on the line. In such a situation you do not want to say to the networks chief technical executive Sorry the cameras look like junk but we got a great deal by using a cheap chart.

Q: 3. Does it have an 18% gray patch or surround?

A: Yes, the CamAlign charts like the DSC Labs GrayScale Junior CamAlign Chip Chart include an 18% neutral gray background.

Q: 4. Can this be used with the Resolve utility?

A: Yes it will.

Q: 5. Doesn't the fact that this card has a glossy finish, throw off the 18% reflectance that middle grey should have?

A: The DSC Labs Pocket OneShot Plus EFP Carry-On Chart with AcuFlect 3 is meant for video work only. Different color chips are used for photography, like the Datacolor SCK310 Spyder Checkr Photo Color Chart.

Q: 8. Do these lenses work with Auto Focus?

A: These are manual focus only lenses. These lenses are meant for movie production with a large crew including a focus puller to maintain focus.

Q: 9. what is the max size chart (in inches) this stand can support?

A: The CamStand Chart Stand is designed to support SRW charts and smaller. The outside dimensions of SRW charts are 24 x 14.7 x 0.15.

Q: 10. Why a glossy finish? I would think matte would be more useful, less prone to picking up reflections.

A: According to DSC: Film-style production schedules dont generally allow much time to shoot a glossy chart and eliminate reflections, but matte surface can be too delicate for field production; DSCs AcuFlect wide dynamic range, washable gloss surface, eliminates unreliable matte chart flare.

Just a great portable product. Cheap (relatively) and small enough to go anywhere on any shoot. Only downside is no warm card on back - just white. 5

I didn't know how off my color matrix was until I used the chart. Worth every penny and saves valuable time in editing when I have to match cameras. 5

The large size of this card is great for getting a full frame of white. This DSC product will provide a TRUE white, and it's convenient to have back focus chart on the other side. Worth the expense. 5

With more cheap 2x gain vectorscope options, software and hardware, on the market, this cheap and versatile item increases in usefulness. I use mine to calibrate all of my Sony and JVC cameras, as well as to build FCPX effect presets to correct further than the cameras in menu calibrations allow. One word of caution...the glossy surface can and will easily mark and scratch from sliding it in and out of the included case, which makes things like seeing the black patches impossible do to hazy reflections on the scratches. I am looking for a better means to store and protect my replacement chart. 5

This is great to throw in your camera bag. It has a white card on the back. Right before you shoot grab a white balance and shoot a few frames of the test chart. When you get into post you will be able to make sure all of your colors are correct. 5
