Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will the high THD (above 6%) of a portable generator harm this power station if I use the generator to charge it? If I use this power station to charge my phone while it’s plugged into the generator is my phone still protected from high THD? Using this pass through feature is the station basically acting as an inverter to produce pure sine wave from the generator?

A: As per Goal Zero, using a portable generator to charge this Yeti should not damage the device. It should also not damage a phone when plugged into the Yeti while being charged by the generator. The pass through feature does make the station act like an inverter putting out a pure sine wave.

Q: 2. Can you power a portable heater?

A: The Yeti 1500x is capable of outputting up to 2000 watts max for roughly 1.5 hours. As long as the portable heater used is not rated to exceed 2000 watts, the Yeti 1500x will be able to power it.

Q: 3. Does this panel comes with the necessary cable to connect a Goal Zero Yetti 150?

A: WHAT'S IN THE BOX: Boulder 100 Solar Panel with cord and built-in kickstand

Q: 4. Can this power up a laserjet printer, monitor and a CPU? If so, for how long?

A: Most UPS manufacturers discourage connecting a laser printer to their equipment due to their excessive startup power requirements. The Yeti 400 would fall under the same restrictions for the same reason. The 400 watt rating is 400 watt hours so drawing 40 watts per hour it would provide 10 hours, 10 watts per hour would give you 40 hours etc. Many devices have a high startup requirement and taper off during their use... The average hourly rate has to be considered to come up with a meaningful serviceable duration. I use it to run LED lighting, charging iPhones, iPads and a Mac computer. Recharge it during the day with 4 Boulder 30 Solar Panels. This is an optimum usage because most of the usage is at night and the topping off of the charge is during the day. Find it usually fully recharged by the time we get up in the morning.

Q: 5. Hello, I want the device with a European output, is it possible?

A: Hi Ali, According to Goal Zero, a transformer will allow you to use the Yeti 1500X Portable Power Station in Europe. You can check out some of the options available here at B&H by clicking on the link below: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/products/ci/27039?filters=fct_item-type_4995%3Atransformer&origSearch=power%20converter

Q: 6. Can you use this with a Profoto D2 flash head?

A: The GOAL ZERO Yeti 1000X Portable Power Station BH #GO36200 is not suitable for use with a flash head.

Q: 7. Does the GOAL ZERO Yeti 400 Solar Generator come with a solar panel?

A: It does not. These panels are sold as separate extension accessories. If you click on our Accessories recommended for this model it will list the compatible model for this Generator.

Q: 8. If we charge this unit with 3 150 watt solar panels will it run a 1500 watt thermostated space heater and two lamps?

A: No. The max output is only 400 watts. The input can vary from the amount of panels you link. This lessens the charging time. The output will only be up to 400watts

Q: 9. Is there a version of this powerbank with 240vac outlet?

A: Unfortunately we do not have a 250VAC version of the Yeti 400.

Q: 10. Does this work well with the Goal Zero 400 Lithium, or would the Boulder 50 be a better choice?

A: The Boulder 100 Briefcase would work great with the Yeti 400 Lithium Power Station. It will provide a faster charge than the Boulder 50 Solar Panel. The Boulder 100 would take about 6-12 hours to charge from 0% to full compared to the Boulder 50’s 12-24 hours.
