Designed for traditional black and white printing, Lupex Contact Paper from Adox is a slow-speed contact fiber paper made with a silver chloride emulsion. Designed to replace Kodak Azo or Fomalux, the speed of this paper is approximately 8 stops lower than Adox MCC. This Lupex Contact Paper provides an extremely fine grain and yields superior resolution while working with large format negatives. Additionally, when working with a strong light source and without an enlarger, you can place your large-format film directly onto the paper while burning and dodging your print.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this paper for pinhole cameras without preflashing it ? How would be the results if not preflashed ?

A: Yes you can use this paper without a pre-flash with a pinhole camera, but it will be more contrasty due to the long exposure and relative slow ISO (I think around 7). You'll get more tonality with a pre-flash. One thing about this paper is YOU CANNOT handle it under amber safelight.

Q: 2. Can I use this paper with an Epson 3600 printer?

A: Nope...this is RA4 paper, not inkjet.

Q: 3. After pre-flashing, can I use it a few hours or days later? Or should it be used immediately?

A: There is no set time listed for storing pre flashed HARMAN technology Direct Positive Fiber Based (FB) Paper (Glossy, 4 x 5", 25 Sheets). As with all photographic materials, they do degrade over time - so the shorter the time frame, the better. Be sure to store all papers in a cool and dry environment.

Q: 4. What kind of darkroom chemistry do I need to develop the paper?

A: This fiber based paper can developed in any standard B&W paper developer such as Kodak Dektol, B&H # KODG. Please see the image below for reference.

Q: 5. If loading in darkness, is there a notch like regular 4x5 for loading. If not, is there a way to tell?

A: There are no notches. This paper can be loaded with darkroom safely light or in complete darkness the glossy side up.

Q: 6. Will this paper be damaged by airport security check X-ray scan machines or it's package protects the paper from this problem ?

A: Theoretically, it is possible that high strength X-ray machines can fog film or paper, which is typically the case with checked bagged rather than hand-carry/carry-on which typically use a weaker form of x-ray radiation.

Q: 7. Can you leave this paper after exposing in the fridge for a period of time before developing? Not near a darkroom

A: You can hold off processing the HARMAN technology Direct Positive Fiber Based (FB) Paper (Glossy, 4 x 5", 25 Sheets). But do not do that for long times. It is best to process right away but you can wait a few days or so.

Q: 8. I have old and recent b&w slides; anyone have experience printing with an enlarger on this paper? Pre-flash? General exposure length? Preferred developer? Thanks in advance!

A: As always, our wonderful customers are a great resource. Please look to the product reviews for the answers to your questions. Used with care, this paper produces great results.

Q: 9. Please estimate exposure times Aprox. exposure times in a conventional 5 X 7 view camera?

A: I hope this helps, the ISO is rated about 3.

Q: 10. Is this available in luster?

A: Unfortunately, this paper is currently available only in glossy and emulsion-in.

I use the fiber-based paper for everything except my contact sheets. All of my photo materials are from Ilford, they are the way to go. My only issue, which is more an issue of analog photography than it is of the product, is that I have to buy so much so often!

Alan Ross who prints Ansel Adams special edition prints rates this paper very highly. That says a lot about this new paper. I like it better than type 4. It also tones well

The paper allows for such ranges of subtle grays that my photos really get that extra dimension to it. It's great, easy to work with. It's such a soft paper, and incredibly archive-able (is that a word?)

Love the quality of images with this. I only wish I had a better idea of how to properly flatten. But images are gorgeous.
