Urth Nd Filter Plus+ (75 X 85mm, 5-stop)
- Product Code: ga96093
-
This 75 x 85mm ND Filter Plus+ from Urth darkens the entire image area, allowing motion blur to be captured and greater creative control over depth of field. This ND32 filter reduces exposure by 5-stops, allowing the desired settings to be maintained in overly bright conditions to create dramatic motion blur and shallow depth of field. This filter is fabricated from German Schott glass for true light transmittance and supreme image sharpness. The filter surface features a 20-layer nano-coating, providing neutral color balance, reduced lens flare and ghosting, and protection from smudges and scratches.
Compatible with the Urth 75 x 85mm Square Filter Holder System and most 75mm square filter holders.

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. The description says that this filter features a thin, oversized mount which helps to reduce the likelihood to vignetting when used with wide-angle lenses. To use this filter with a smaller diameter lens, what step down ring size would I have to use to be able to use it on a smaller lens diameter - - 77mm or 82 mm to hold this filter?
A: The size step-up ring that would be required for use on your lens would depend on the filter size of your lens. Unfortunately, you did not list the lens you own or its filter size. As the B+W 77mm XS-Pro Digital ND Vario MRC nano Filter has 77mm rear filter threads, you would need a step-up ring that has 77mm front filter threads. If you need assistance with locating the proper ring for your equipment, you would have to send an e-mail to askbh@bandh.com with the above information and we will assist you with your inquiry.
Q: 2. is a five stop density enough to get the milky effect on water falls and ocean ? I am also looking to photograph motion ( still images) not sure if if i need a denser filter or five stops should suffice.
A: It would mainly depend on the amount of ambient light on the scene and your camera's settings as to if 5-stops would be enough for your needs. For most lenses, and if using the camera's lowest ISO setting, 5-stops should be enough for you to create a situation to have a shutter speed between 1/4 sec to 4 seconds, depending on the type of waterfall and available light restraints. If you use a low ISO, a mid- to small aperture, and a shutter speed between 1/4 sec to 4 seconds (or test for your needs), then the B+W 82mm XS-Pro Digital ND Vario MRC nano Filter would work for your needs.
Q: 3. This filter has a 72mm filter thread. So, is it same to assume that a lens cap will also be 72mm?
A: That's correct, Lenscap is 72mm. This filter lives on my camera almost permanently. Worth every cent!
Q: 4. Hi there Is this ND compatible to use with Sony Fe 400/2.8—i.e. internally? Thanks
A: No, the B+W 40.5mm XS-Pro Digital ND Vario MRC-Nano Filter would not be compatible for use with the Sony FE 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS Lens. While the Sony FE 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS Lens does use 40.5mm filters, the B+W 40.5mm XS-Pro Digital ND Vario MRC-Nano Filter would be too thick for usage in the drop-in filter holder.
Q: 5. Does this filter vignette with a Canon 10-22 lens at 10mm on crop sensor camera?
A: A super-wide such as this lens will inherently vignette. The filter is a high level of quality and does not add any noticeable distortion to photos.
Q: 6. I have a Sony A7S with Sony FE PZ 28-135mm f/4 G OSS Lens and shoot video. I like the flexibility of the variable ND filter especially as I often don't have time to change filters. Is this the best for exteriors? Thanks Andrew
A: It's that or a mattbox with ND, especially for shooting Log2 or Log3 at 1600 or 3200iso.
Q: 7. will this filter vignette with the Canon EF 16-35mm F4L lens?
A: I'm a Nikon shooter, so my answer is in that context. I no longer have my Nikkor 17-35, so the best other lens I could test it on is my Nikkor 12-24, which is a DX lens (also a 77mm diameter). Yours, however, is an FX lens, so I don't know how that may affect the comparison. I tested it on the D800, in full format mode. I noticed the beginning of vignetting when the focal length was 19mm. I did it a few times, and that was consistent. So, if this is in any way accurate, you can probably expect to lose a few mm of focal length at the3 wide end when you use this filter. I don't know if this filter is made in a thinner version for wide angle use. Hope this helped.
Q: 8. How smooth is the rotation ring?
A: The rotation ring on this filter moves easily and smoothly--much better than most variable ND filters.
Q: 9. I have a UV protective filter, Can i use it in addition to a Polarize filter? Stack all 3?
A: It's typically advised you don't stack filters due to diminishing transmission and risk of unwanted glare/artifacts/color-shifting/cross-polarization.
Q: 10. Will this filter fit the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 lens?
A: Yes, it fits.
