Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I'm assuming (since it was listed as an accessory to the Filmmaker Kit) this product will allow you to use the Lavalier included with the Filmmaker Kit as a hardwired mic via an XLR cable. If so, will this adapter allow +48V phantom power to be supplied to the Lavalier?

A: No, this does not supply phantom power.

Q: 2. Attempting to connect iphone se to Irig Pre to VXLT to Galagy GT-V Trek. Will this work. And can I take the IRIG headphone out and connect to mixer for monitoring/recording? Thanks

A: We are not aware of this working in that case.

Q: 3. I can use the VXLR adapter to connect the Rode to Go to my sound Board mixer instead of the VXLR+?

A: The VXLR adapater can be used to connect a Wireless GO receiver to an XLR mic input on a mixer, but you will need to use the VXLR+ to connect a VideoMic GO or Lavalier GO to an XLR mic input. The VideoMic GO and Lavalier GO both require plug-in power and the VXLR+ can convert phantom power from the mixer into plug-in power to safely power the mics. The VXLR adapter will not convert phantom power to plug-in power. A wireless transmitter does not require any power from the mixer to function so you only need to convert the 3.5mm plug on the receiver's output cable to XLR for connection to the mixer's input.

Q: 4. Can I use this to send PC audio from the Headphone output to a Speaker system using XLR?

A: The RODE VXLR 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter wouldn't be recommended for use with a laptop headphone jack, as it is intended for a mono mic signal. Instead, a stereo breakout cable such as B&H # HOHMX003Y would be better to use.

Q: 5. Will it work with Focusrite Saffire 14 and Media Tech SFX Pro 2 Microphone?

A: Unfortunately the Media Tech SFX Pro 2 mic can not be adapted for use with an XLR mic input. This adapter will only operate with mics terminated in an 1/8 jack that are dynamic in design or battery powered.

Q: 6. I have the Tascam DR-60 and two lavalier mics: Boya BY-M1 and Purple Panda. Will the Rode VXLR allow me to connect both microphones to my recorder?

A: If you have an adapter for each mic, I can't see why not. The Tascam has dual XLR inputs.

Q: 7. Phantom power. Can my mixing board power my boundary microphone using this adapter? I'm using a Mackie 8 channel mixer with Olympus boundary mics.

A: So that we may best assist you, please contact us by live chat, phone or email, proaudio@bhphoto.com.

Q: 8. The specs say Maximum Wattage 70 W, but the description says it outputs 12VDC at up to 10A, which implies 120 W. Can you clarify what is the actual maximum DC output power?

A: Manufacturer states same information, with output being 12VDC at "up to" 10A.

Q: 9. Will this adapter work from the rodelink wireless to Sony FS5 XLR?

A: While I do not own the FS5, the audio inputs on your camera are XLR at mic and line level. The Rode Link outputs to 1/8 jack and will connect to your camera via this adapter perfectly using the supplied (Rode) 1/8 short cable.

Q: 10. Can I use this to plug in a Rode Lavalier Go Mic to an Focusrite Audio Interface XLR Jack?

A: The Rode Lavalier Go Mic is not compatible with the RODE VXLR 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter, the correct adapter is the RODE VXLR+ 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom Power Converter.
