The BOYA BY-P80 is a microphone windshield with a 3.14" inside depth. It fits short microphones with diameter ranging from 0.75 to 0.9".

The BY-P80 is made of faux fur material that greatly reduces wind noise, ideal for a variety of outdoor sound recording applications including video, interviews, ENG, and more.

The windshield is equipped with an airtight rubber base that seals out wind from the rear of the microphone, improving isolation and rear-wind protection.

A: Boya does not provide information on battery life but if used with a smart phone no battery is necessary.

A: Yes. It would go into the XLR input.

Q: 5. Can I use this with an Ipad?

A: This lavalier microphone can be used with Apple iPad. Depending on the model, you most likely would also need the Apple Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter, BH #APLAADAP to connect into the digital input of the iPad.

Q: 6. How long is the cord? Can a longer cord be attached? What type of cord?

A: The BOYA BY-BM6060 does not include a cable. The mic has an XLR output and can be powered by a single AA battery or phantom power. If you are connecting the mic directly to the mic input on a DSLR, mirrorless camera, or a camera or recorder with a 3.5mm mic input, then you will need to use a battery to power the mic and you can use an XLR female to 3.5mm TRS male cable. To connect the BY-BM6060 to a camera or recorder with an XLR mic input, use an XLR female to XLR male cable. If the device can supply phantom power, then a battery is not required to power the mic. However, if the device cannot supply phantom power or if you do not want to use power from the device, then use a battery is required. The cable can be as short or as long as needed.

Q: 7. Does this work with a headphone jack?

A: This microphone does not have a headphone output port.

Q: 8. Is this case (Pentax P80-150) genuine leather?

A: According to Pentax, the Pentax P80-150 Lens Case is not made of genuine leather; it is made of synthetic leather materials.

Q: 9. Will this work with the RODE Compact go wireless system? I noticed there is a lavalier mic specific to this wireless device, but I'd rather not spend a ton of money on a mic.

Q: 10. There appear to be three settings for the high-pass filter: the switch can be positioned towards the front of the mic (bent line symbol), in the middle (straight line symbol), or towards the back of the mic (circle symbol). I gather the bent line represents "hi-pass filter on", the straight line "hi-pass filter off", but what does the circle setting do?

A: The circle setting turns the mic off.

First I am not a professional but I have been the photography for many of our community projects for years. This mic has open a whole new world for me. The sound is awesome. You may pay more but the quality of sound can't be much better. 5

Bought this to use with a Sony HXR-NX3 camcorder. Have used it in videoing seminars and producing golf instructional videos both outdoors and in. It has worked very well. Had to buy several o-rings at the hardware store for a good fit in the Sony's microphone bracket but B&H had made me aware they would be required before the microphone was purchased. 5

This mic works perfect with a camera that can feed phantom power or a recorder that can. A nice size for an on board camera mic. I just plugged it in to my c300 and turn phantom power on, adjusted levels and was ready to go. I didn't test it before I went out and shot an event with it. Thank goodness it worked smoothly. The audio is nice and clean. That was the biggest thing for me. Plus a 10 year warranty is nice. If i had to say something that isn't great it's that it's not exactly a mic for smaller cameras that don't have phantom power even though you can buy a recorder or pre-amp thing. 5

Even a year after our company first bought this mic, I am still impressed with it. We've used it for numerous outdoor interviews and, with a dead-cat to help with an errant breeze, it does great at minimizing the environment while drawing out the interviewee. It can listen in on a phone call across a room, but when placed 2 or 3 feet away from a speaker's mouth, it will all but eliminate any surrounding conversations. It produces excellent quality sound. It seems fairly flat in it's vocal response so their is plenty of room to adjust things with an EQ or in post. 5
