The Genus GWMC Wide-Angle Matte Box for 4 x 4" Filters includes a wide-angle matte box with a 105mm attachment, a 4 x 4" rotating filter tray, a 4 x 4" fixed filter tray, and a wide-angle rayshade. Standard lenses as well as wide-angle lenses can be accommodated using the wide rayshade.

Two lockable 4 x 4" filter holders are provided; one fixed and the other 360°-rotatable for graduating filters. Also included is an 82mm adapter ring, as well as a clamp ring that supports lenses and wide-angle adapters with diameters up to 105mm. A GARD donut adapter ring allows you to achieve a secure fit between the lens adapter ring and clamp ring of the matte box. You can use the matte box with 58 to 86mm lenses via screw-in adapter rings.

You can use the matte box with 12 or 15mm rods via an optional adapter unit. Weighing just 11.9 ounces, the Wide-Angle Matte Box is portable and provides an ideal solution for location-based shoots. You can use the matte box with camcorders and DSLRs such as the Canon 5D or 7D.

A: The Sigma 10-20mm, B&H # SI102035C, has an 82mm filter thread and this kit comes with an 82mm filter adapter. You will be able to connect this matte box to that lens!

Q: 3. It says in the description that this mattebox works with a rod system or with the adapter rings. The pictures do not show any connectivity to rods- is that an extra accessory? Is the description wrong? Can it connect to 15mm rods?

Q: 5. The adapter rings show that the outer diameter is 105mm. Is it possible to get another brand step up ring with the same specs to clip on with or is the adapter proprietary?

Q: 6. How does this attach to the lens without rod support?

A: It is straight forward if you have a lens with a 77mm filter thread. Screw on the 77mm adapter ring. You then clamp the matte box to the ring. If you have other sized lens, you can use rings that adapt to the 77mm ring.

Q: 7. I know GenusTech offers adapters for wide angle lenses that don't have filter threads. Can you please tell me, is it possible to use this with a 10mm Rokinon Cine DS lens and not have vignetting?

A: That will depend on the exact lens you are asking about as certain Rokinon Cine DS lenses have a lens hood which is not removable. Feel free to email us directly at askbh@bhphotovideo.com with the lens you are referring to and we may be better able to assist you from there.

Q: 8. can I ise it for Canon17-40mm lens?

A: Yes, at least if yours came with a 77mm adapter ring. I bought mine to use with the Canon 18-80 cine lens which also has a 77mm filter thread. I haven't actually used that combination, but I doubt that 1mm wider will cause vignetting.

Q: 9. Is it compatibile with Genustech Height Extension Bracket?

A: Yes, the Genustech GWMC works with the Genustech Height Extension Bracket.If you do not need to adjust, there is this bracket that works as well.

Q: 10. Could this Matte box be converted to rails or swing-away?

A: Yes it can be. You will just need the Genustech GL GSP-400-038 Matte Box Adaptor, BH #GEGLGSP40003.

If you need a good box but you don't have the Redrock Micro kind of budget, this is your box. It hold two filters, and one of the trays rotates. It will mount to just about any of the standard lenses with the right adapter ring. If your shooting with a DSLR, you can use this box without rails. It's fairly durable, and seems to be a good design. I do a lot of shoulder work and this box does not weigh very much, it's also easy to install or take off. All in all I'm pleased with it and I would recomend it! 5

I have seen several questions on this product. So, hopefully my review will help out. I use this with the 77mm ring into a 72mm adapter. It's super light, so most of the time I just screw it on, and leave it all day. I use 4x4 glass filters, and just take out the polarizer when I move inside. You can use flags on it as well, and stay pretty light if need be. All in all for my needs of wanting to simply shoot outside with a couple of nice glass filters, this works perfectly, is light, and really sturdy. I've used really expensive boxes, so I can tell when one is cheap. This hits the perfect niche for run and gun cinema/corporate. 5

this particular one is beyond great. Great to have something that doesn't require rails all the time. Kinda wish they had an option for brass adapter/step-up rings because I think the aluminum ones will wear out with a lot of use. That said, I have zero complaints. Great build quality. Filter stages are fantastic. Does what it's supposed and couldn't be happier with the purchase. 5

Been using this matte box for some time now and im really satisfied with this product. Main points i say that put this over previous matt boxes ive used would be the ability to attach it directly to the lens by using a lens adapter ring. Very helpful when u need to be moving around and not having ur camera fixed on a rig or tripod. 5

I've had other matte boxes that cost 3 times as much and I'm just as happy with this one as I was with the others. It's lightweight and well made. The 67mm lens adapter that I bought with it allows me to use zoom lenses that extrude. The matte box moves with the lens when the adapter is attached. 5
