A: You will need the special holder. they have designed it in such a way that requires the holder. that makes you buy more of their over priced products.

Q: 2. Can this be used to hold bags instead of gels, say a tripod bag and lightstand bag? If I just wrapped it around the bags, will the velcro reach?

A: I wouldn't use this for that. There are several layers that roll into itself, so the tripod would have to be on the tiny side. There aren't any straps or a pocket it keep a tripod secure, inside the pouch. Lastly, the integrity of the fabric doesn't seem like it would be good for that much weight. Id hold out for a affordable bag designed for a tripod.

Q: 3. I'm trying to find out what color gels are included. I'm particularly interested in orange (1/4 cut, 1/2 cut, 3/4 cut, full cut). Are they included? And is it one of each color (some companies provide 2 or 3 gels of the same color). Thanks!

A: There are three orange gels included in the set but they are not accurate CTO gels. I tested them with a color temperature meter and compared the readings with Rosco gels I have for my studio lights and I found them to be considerably warmer than even the Full CTO Rosco gels. For true color accuracy, I would recommend not using the included gels just cut down some Rosco (or other brand) color correction gels.

Q: 4. It doesn't seem as though the gels are included with this kit. Can you tell me what gels are compatible with this holder?

A: I have the kit but have not used it. If I wanted to, I would cut a gel and fit it between the gel holder and the removable front plate. The front plate would make a perfect template for cutting the gel.
