The PS5 stock storage is comically small, but this HD easily expands storage to maximum supported capacity. Takes 5 minutes to install, and just works. 5

This SSD is fast and easy to install to either a laptop or a compatible desktop motherboard. I have it installed in my Dell Precision 7550 laptop, to replace the older 1TB SSD that was there. Just clone your existing (OS) SSD to this new WD_BLACK SN850X, then update BIOS settings accordingly and you are good to go. 5

Bought this to expand the storage in a PlayStation 5. The drive is fast enough that it provides as good or better performance than the built-in drive, and it expanded the total available storage from 800GB (about 625 usable) to 2,800. That's great because as big as modern games are, the stock hard drive only puts about ten PS5 games at your immediate disposal. As for the buying experience, B&H customer service was stellar as always, the product shipped quickly and arrived in great condition. Sony made the installation process quick and easy, much like upgrading memory in a laptop, where you just have to access a side hatch rather than crack the whole device open. Of course I'd still suggest the usual precautions like an anti-static strap. I've seen some questions about this elsewhere, so I'll mention it here in case someone's deciding between an internal drive like this one or an external drive, which are usually cheaper and bigger. Internal drives can hold both PS5 and PS4 games, and you can play them straight from the disk as if it were part of the console, because it kind of is. External drives can be used to store whatever games you like, but PS5 games have to be transferred to an internal drive before you can play them. It's not a huge hassle, USB 3.0 data transfer speeds are pretty quick, but it does mean a bit of juggling. 5
