The Roland VERSELAB MV1 is a complete, all-in-one, portable music workstation specifically designed to help musicians and producers focus on completing entire songs and compositions. In addition to being packed with a host of powerful tools for producing beats and vocals, the VERSELAB also offers a uniquely fluid workflow, filled with creative tools to inspire your writing and help you bring your musical ideas to fruition.

Use the vast, curated collection of over 3000 onboard sounds—with additional sounds available via Zenbeats and Roland cloud content—to quickly create clips, featuring drums, bass, and melodic parts. The unit's Style Mode offers you a selection of patterns and options to choose from, helping you to get just the right feel from your grooves, even if you're a newcomer to music production.

The Motion Record function helps you add movement to your grooves by recording subtle sound tweaks to keep your beats fresh, while the Chord Mode allows you to play complex chords by triggering individual pads. Use the clips to create Sections and then arrange them in Song Mode for a complete musical bed.

Plug a microphone into the XLR input, which offers 48V phantom power for condenser mics, and you're ready to use the Vocal Mode to record up to 16 vocal takes, each accessible by one of the trigger pads. A host of onboard vocal effects including auto-pitch, harmonizer, radio filter, doubler, and more is available, allowing you to record your vocals with the exact processing you want for different song sections. In addition, vocal takes can be copied and pasted where needed in the song.

When you're ready to complete your tune, switch to Mixing mode for control over EQ, levels, panning, and effects. For a final professional production sheen, add mastering effects across the entire mix bus including multiband compression, limiting, and a 5-band EQ. The VERSELAB stores your productions to SD or SDHC cards and an SD card is included along with an AC adapter, although the unit can also be powered via USB power.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will the device take 60p frame rate inputs?

A: Yes it will. The Roland V-1HD accepts frame rates of 59.94 fps at 1080p, 1080i and 720p resolutions.

Q: 2. In the PIP effect, do you have control over the size of the window and location and also can you crop the horizontal or vertical of the video window?

A: Hi. I love this unit. Regarding your question - I don't think you can control the size, but you can control the location. You can also set the size and color of the video window

Q: 3. I am looking for a device to superimpose / mix the inputs of multiple video sources at once. I see that the V-1HD has 4 HDMI inputs but from what I understand, only two can be blended into a single output at one time. Is this correct?

A: That would require a more advanced Production Switcher with multiple mixed effect buses. https://bhpho.to/3dNQHyN

Q: 4. Can I daisy chain 2 units? (The 8 input version of this doesn't have MIDI)

A: You could take the output from one unit and input it to another unit. That would effectively give you 7 HDMI inputs. The unit that has another switch connected to it would have 3 inputs with its own signal then the 4th input would have 4 HDMI inputs from the other switcher, for a total of 7 sources.

Q: 5. I shoot with a 7D connected to Atomos Ninja 2. Can i output from Atomos ninja 2 to the v-1 hd switcher and it will be clean and nice @ 1080p?

A: I am afraid not. First of all you would need to make sure that your camera has a clean HDMI output, such as the 7D Mark II. From there you would need a field recorder with a Loop Out, which the Atomos Ninja 2 does not have. You would need the Ninja Blade which does have a clean HDMI Loop Out.

Q: 6. What else do I need to stream from this gear?

A: To stream from the HDMI output on this switcher you could look in to HDMI Capture Device which will allow you to capture the signal for streaming in to your computer. The BMD UltraStudio Mini Recorder is a good option for people with a Mac that has a Thunderbolt connection. Magewell makes a very nice solution for PC/Mac users who have a USB 3.0 connection. The Magewell device is even backwards compatible with USB 2.0. Another solution is streaming devices that will allow you to send the signal directly to the web. The Teradek VidiU will allow you to send the signal to a variety of streaming services.

Q: 7. can the preview output be the same as the program output? i.e. two program outs for two screens?

A: You can accomplish this by using an HDMI Splitter, such as this one: https://bhpho.to/3tlqnU1

Q: 8. isd it possible to transpose a smf in sequencer mode??

A: Yes you can transpose with your SMF in sequencer mode.

Q: 9. If i want to RECORD, WEBCAST and PREVIEW from the outputs, could I use a hdmi splitter?

A: The Roland V-1HD does have a Preview output so you are good there. Downsteam, you should be able to do what ever you wish with your HDMI signal.

Q: 10. Can our company use this switcher for gotomeeting / webex etc? We'd like to connect up to 4 cameras for company meetings.

A: Yes, you will be able to use the Roland V-1HD for GoToMeeting, Webex, and other 3rd party conferencing programs.
