Paired with your existing XLR-equipped preamp, the TASCAM TM-200SG short shotgun microphone offers pro-type features and design for indie filmmakers, vloggers, and videographers on a limited budget. The included mic holder has a shoe mount and a 1/4" thread, allowing the versatility of placing the mic atop your camera or tripod stand. The compact and lightweight housing of the TM-200SG makes it an unobtrusive companion for your shooting rig.

The supercardioid condenser element of the microphone enables it to deliver focused sound pickup with far less background noise than the omnidirectional microphones usually built into cameras. Its 30 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response incorporates a gentle presence boost at around 7 kHz to enhance intelligibility. Plus, the inclusion of a switchable low-cut filter lets you easily control problematic bass buildup such as traffic rumble. The TM-200SG utilizes a balanced XLR 3-pin output connector and runs on standard 48 VDC phantom power.

The TM-200SG was designed to be heard, not seen. The balance of audio replication and small form factor mean this microphone will be the least of your worries while shooting in the field.

Thanks to the sensitive condenser capsule and supercardioid polar pattern, the TM-200SG microphone delivers a capture zone that's focused on what is in front of the mic while leaving unwanted sounds behind, making postproduction much easier.

Wind and environmental hum can reduce the quality of the audio and create headaches in postproduction. By utilizing the mic's natural-sounding low-cut filter, you're saving time downstream without cutting into vital frequencies you have captured.

Use the supplied foam windscreen to reduce noise from breezes and other sources of wind such as fans. The mic also comes with soft case and a mic holder equipped with a shoe mount and 1/4" thread.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it come with a short xlr cable for camcorder use? I does not seem so, since nothing is said about it in in the box section. But I have seen in other stores - including Sony - that it comes with it. Thanks for your help!

A: The kit comes with an XLR, the mic by itself does not

Q: 2. What is the main difference to the long shotgun microphone? Which one is better suitable as an on-camera microphone?

A: The main difference is the option to power the long shotgun mic using a single AA battery or phantom power. The short shotgun mic operates on phantom power only. The mic element, frequency response range, high-pass filter, and specs for sensitivity level, maximum SPL, signal to noise ratio are the same for both mics when using phantom power. For selecting the better on-camera mic, it really depends on the camera that you will be using and whether or not the camera supplies phantom power or if you will be using a separate phantom power supply. If you are using a DSLR, mirrorless camera or handycam with a single 3.5mm mic input, the long shotgun will allow you to connect the mic directly to the camera using an XLR to 3.5mm cable and power the mic with a AA batttery.

Q: 5. Will it work with pixel 6 pro with USB c?

A: Yes, the TASCAM TM-250U Supercardioid USB Type-C Condenser Microphone is compatible with Android devices which support audio over USB-C.

Q: 6. Does the gooseneck detach quickly from the base? Ideally for quick setup/teardown and transport

A: Chris M,As ANTHONY G indicated, the microphone simply locks and unlocks with a few turns of a screw ring located on the base of the unit.a href= http://www.tascam.com/product/tm-95gn/overview/ target= _blank http://www.tascam.com/product/tm-95gn/overview//aThank you for your interest in TASCAM products.

Q: 7. Hi, I just ordered this mic a couple weeks ago. So far it has not shown to turn on or record any audio, nor did I receive an instruction manual with it. I have plugged it into my canon 5d mark III and also a Zoom H5 recorder, and both have giving me no sound from the mic and some plug in noise. No levels are shown to record. I have not been able to find any troubleshooting pieces on line. Can you help me?

A: This microphone requires power you need to send it 48V

Q: 8. dB audio sensitivity rating?

A: The TASCAM TM-95GN has a sensitivity of -39 dB at 1 kHz.

Q: 9. Is the mic diameter too narrow to fit inside a camera mounted clip? Do I need O-rings for a more snug fit?

A: The Senal MC24-ES does fit in camera mounts such as the Auray DUSM-1 Universal Shockmount for Camera Shoes and Boompoles (B&H # AUDUSM1) which attaches to a camera's shoe mount as has a threaded hole on the bottom which can be used to mount it on a boompole. O-rings would not be need for this type of mount.

Q: 10. Is this good for a boom pole?

A: Yes, it is. It is recommended to use a shock mount to reduce handling noise.

I purchased this to add shotgun capability to my Sony UWP plug-on transmitter for wireless shotgun while shooting weddings. You can't always attach a lavalier mic to the bride due to her expensive gown--sometimes you just need a Plan B. A non-conspicuous shotgun mic on a non-conspicuous stand can be just the solution you need. This mic is better than a Rode mic and offers the option for wireless. Great job, Sony.
