As manufacturers cut corners by not providing external battery chargers for their cameras and camcorders, it's nice to be able to buy 3rd party chargers rather than pay premium prices for the manufacturer's brand. I bought this charger to work with the batteries for my Panasonic X920 video camera. It's lightweight, convenient and does the job The batteries lock into place reasonably well, though not super-solidly, though that is not a problem. The adapter for charging in the car is a nice bonus. The plate the battery rests on is removable, and Watson sells plates for OTHER batteries (for super cheap) allowing you to use this charger for the batteries from multiple products. 5

I was a bit worried about purchasing this adapter plate as it has only two prongs for charging and the original Sony charger has three. I contacted both B&H and Pearstone to verify it would work for the Sony A-57 and both told me it was the right plate. It works great - no problems whatsoever. The plates are easy to change on the charger. 5
