A: The focal length will be too short for kids indoor sports. My favorite lens for that use is the Fuji 90mm f2. The focal length is great and the bright aperture works indoors without a flash.

A: We have not tested the lenses side by side for optical performance but based on customer feedback so far, more people are using the 20mm f1.8 for astrophotography than the 14-24mm.

A: Nope. distance from flange to focal plane already shorter than Nikon, so no adapter is possible. use Nikon's excellent 35/1.8 on their APS-C cameras.

A: If you are looking to compare the newer Z-mount Nikon NIKKOR Z 20mm f/1.8 S Lens to the older F-mount Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED Lens, I have not seen any comprehensive lens tests comparing the two lenses listed above. That being said, from images taken with the two lenses, the Z-mount lens appears much sharper compared to the F-mount lens used on the same camera with the FTZ lens mount adapter. The Z-mount lens used wide-open at f/1.8 appears sharper than the F-mount lens used two stops down at f/2.8. In addition to the above, the Z-mount lens also is sealed from dust and moisture, and has Nano Crystal coatings and Super Integrated coatings for improved optical performance and easier cleaning. While both lenses are good, optically, I would recommend the Nikon NIKKOR Z 20mm f/1.8 S Lens.
