Rme Fireface Ucx Ii 40-channel Usb-b Audio/midi Interface
- Product Code: ga97782
-
Compact, portable, and packed with features from their premier interfaces, the RME Fireface UCX II is a desktop 20x20 USB audio/MIDI interface that effectively serves as a mobile version of RME's respected UFX rackmount models, earning it the flexibility to benefit musicians, content creators, and serious engineers alike. Not only is it a capable interface with plenty of analog and digital I/O for your DAW-based productions, but it also supports powerful remote-control options and standalone operation to accommodate a myriad of workflows and recording scenarios. Additionally, it can record all I/O channels directly to USB flash storage thanks to the internal DURec digital recorder.
Since it has eight analog inputs—two high-gain mic/line preamps, two line / Hi-Z inputs, and four rear-panel line inputs, the Fireface UCX II can easily handle dynamic and condenser mics, electric instruments, and professional line-level devices. With six balanced TRS line outputs and a stereo headphone jack, it has no problem feeding monitors, headphones, and even CV/gate inputs on synth gear. Reference-class clocking and compliance with resolutions up to 24-bit / 192 kHz enable the interface to perform at its best, and a crisp color display shows metering for all inputs and outputs at the same time.

The Fireface UCX II is a highly integrated pro-audio solution in an ultracompact format for studio and live recordings. It continues RME's long tradition of designing advanced compact interfaces, packing into a half-rack size unit what usually would be spread outover two or three 19" panels.
With up to 20 channels for recording and playback, SteadyClock FS, high-performance microphone inputs, parametric EQ, dynamics processing, echo, reverb, DURec (Direct USB Recording), MIDI I/O, a powerful headphone output, and full standalone operation, the Fireface UCX II excels with RME's highest feature-to-space ratio ever.
- The Fireface UCX II comes with the TotalMix FX DSP mixer offering comprehensive routing and monitoring options, as well as the DIGICheck Analyzer allowing to measure and analyze the digital data feed in both directions with maximum precision.
- The integration of Room EQ adds room calibration to the RME eco-system, making your Fireface perfect for Immersive audio setups including Dolby ATMOS. Room EQ consists of nine bands of fully parametric EQ, individual output delay, and volume calibration. Users can freely assign up to twenty 20 Room EQs at once to any output(s) they wish including stereo, headphone, and digital outputs for maximum flexibility. Settings can be input manually or imported using tools like Sonarworks or Room EQ Wizard.
- Also added is a feature called Binaural Crossed. This functionality provides speaker emulation in headphones-perfect for mixing stereo or ATMOS in headphones. The Crossfeed function emulates speaker behavior in terms of channel separation, so the extremely wide ambience experienced in headphones can be set in 5 stages.
- Full standalone operation, no computer required
- DURec-integrated digital recorder allows you to record directly to USB memory devices
- All channels (20 inputs and 20 outputs) can be individually chosen for recording and playback
- CV/gate low-latency voltage control for automating synthesizers, mixing consoles, and effects
- SteadyClock FS reference-class digital clocking
- USB out for ARC USB remote control (available separately)
- Compatible with TotalMix FX for iPad
- DIGICheck turns the interface into a highly versatile front-end for audio measurements and software development
- Class-compliant mode for Linux environments and compatibility with iPads and iPhones (separately available connection kits may be needed)
- Crisp high-resolution color display shows metering for all input and output channels
- Two XLR-1/4" combo mic/line preamps with phantom power and up to 75 dB of gain, plenty even for low-output dynamic mics such as the Shure SM7B
- Two 1/4" TRS inputs for balanced line-level sources or unbalanced Hi-Z instruments
- Input sensitivity for line/Hi-Z inputs switchable to 19 or 13 dBu
- Four rear-panel balanced 1/4" TRS line-level inputs with up to 12 dB of gain, perfect for patching in synths or outboard gear
- All analog inputs are digitally controlled

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Is the M4 compatible with Apple's M1 Computers?
A: Not yet compatible with M1 chips.
Q: 2. Will Madiface operate as USB class compliant device? (using 32x32 channels I/O)
A: The MADIface USB MIDI is class compliant. Therefore it comes without a driver. OS X recognizes it as MIDI device and will be using it with the driver included in the operating system. Like any audio interface the MADIface USB should have a data transmission to the computer as undisturbed as possible. The easiest way to guarantee this is to connect it to its own bus, which should be no big problem as most USB 2.0 interfaces are a double bus design. A check in the Device Manager can be done as follows: ¾ Connect the MADIface USB to a USB port ¾ Start the Device Manager, choose View Devices by Connection ¾ Select ACPI x86-based PC, Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System, expand PCI Bus
Q: 3. Will this work on a 2015 iMac?
A: This should connect to a 2015 iMac via the included USB C to A cable. Your macOS will need to be 10.11 or higher in order for this unit to operate.
Q: 4. Will this replacement power supply also work in the older UFX?
A: No. The RME NT-RME-10 Replacement Power Supply for Fireface UFX+ and UFX II is not compatible with the older UFX. Instead, you can use the RME NT-RME-4 Replacement Power Supply (B&H # RMNTRME4), which is compatible for use with the Fireface 800, 802, and UFX, the Octamic II and Octamic XTC, and the ADI-8 DS Mk III and QS.
Q: 5. Is Digiface USB, USB class compliant?
A: Yes it is: The Digiface USB has a Class Compliant mode. Like any audio interface the Digiface USB should have a data transmission to the computer as undisturbed as possible. The easiest way to guarantee this is to connect it to its own bus, which should be no big problem as most USB 2.0 interfaces are a double bus design. A check in the Device Manager can be done as follows: ¾ Connect the Digiface USB to a USB port ¾ Start the Device Manager, View set to Devices by Connection ¾ Select ACPI x86-based PC, Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System, expand PCI Bus
Q: 6. Can you actually record true 32 Bit Float through this interface?
A: No, the M4 does not offer 32-bit floating point recording.
Q: 7. I'm looking for a way to pipe the signal coming out of the Moto M2 into a streaming setup that accepts hdmi input. Any suggestions?
A: It would depend on what kind of device you want to connect it to. If you are referencing a streaming switcher, you would just plug this interface into the same computer that you are using to stream and designate the interface as your audio input source from your System Preferences or Settings on your computer.
Q: 8. Does it come with any cables?
A: The MOTU M2 2x2 USB-C comes with 1 USB cable.
Q: 9. If a phantom button is pushed on, will it be memorized after the unit is turned off or disconnected?
A: As per MOTU, the unit would default to it's last settings prior to being powered down. The Phantom Power should remain on.
Q: 10. Can I connect it to a Thunderbolt input on my Mac with a USB-C to USB-C cable?
A: Yes
