      Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. That 17.5 folded length, is that including the ball head?

A: Reverse folded length of the tripod with or without the ball head is the same since the head will hide between the legs.

Q: 2. What is the weight without the tripod head?

A: Gitzo Legende Series 1 Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod is 2.25LB and the bundle ball head is 1LB.

Q: 3. I have a canon 5D Mark III with canon 16-35 f4IS and canon 70-200 f2.8Is II. Could you tell me wich plate from Gitzo I need to get for the ring that comes with the 70-200 and what plate for the camera and smaller lens combo?

A: Hi there,This is a great travel tripod that I've even used a 400 2.8 lens on. The standard plate that comes with it if you used the right point for balance, I also purchased the GIGS5370D plate that is slightly bigger. There are many other plates, brakes that can be used. Just remember the tripod is light so if you are putting a lot on top the wind and other factors come into it. Basically after carrying other tripods around the world, my Gitzo traveller is a dream.

Q: 4. Is this tripod large and study enough for a Fuji GFX 50R with an 250mm lens?

A: The Gitzo GT1545T Series 1 Traveler Carbon Fiber Tripod with Center Ball Head is suitable for the Fujifilm GFX50R with a Fujifilm GF 250mm Lens.

Q: 5. Does the weight of 2.95lb includes the weight of the head? Thanks!

A: The legs weigh 2.95lbs and the head weighs 1.1lbs.

Q: 6. Can anyone what temperature ranges this tripod can be sued in? The printed warranty states that is covered only to 70 degrees fahrenheit. Surely that can't be correct. My living room is warmer than that.

A: I've had it exposed to temperatures ranging from 2 degrees to 45 degrees Celsius. That's about 35 to 118 Fahrenheit. Though I know it's been stored in places where it gets up to 48-60 Celsius. No problems so far.

Q: 7. What is the maximum lens length that will fit when a lens is placed upright in the bag ? (top to bottom interior size when the camera insert is removed and the flap is closed)

A: The internal dimensions of the bag without the camera insert is 10.24 x 3.94 x 16.73".

Q: 8. Is there more than one stop to set the angle of the tripod legs. If so, how many?

A: The Gitzo GT2545T Series 2 Traveler Carbon Fiber Tripod has 2 leg angle locking points. One for standard shooting and one for low to the ground shooting. The angle lock can also be disengaged to fold the legs over the top for storage.

Q: 9. Does the tripod ball head comes with the friction control knob?

A: The ball head included with the Gitzo Legende Series 1 Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod with Ball Head and Leather Backpack Kit would have a friction control dial.

Q: 10. How could somebody level the tripod legs {not the ball head which has its own bubble spirit) for taking panoramic photos? Maybe GLEVEL2 if it is compatible.? Any viable solution for the weight hook which is not included?

A: You can attach a bubble level on hot shoe but I'd say better change the head to a ball head with pan mechanism above the ball (ball above stem) like Arca-Swiss Monoball P0 if you're thinking of doing panorama by loosening the pan knob. The ball head that comes with this tripod is so unstable with the camera attached when loosening the head.

I was looking for a sturdy tripod to mount my camera with some of my larger lenses and the Gitzo GT2545T has filled the requirements very well.

Fantastic tripod, probably the best money can buy in this category.
Incredibly stable, there is something in the design that makes these so stable, which I cannot really point to.
I compared it to older mid range CF tripod, at a similar size, and the Gitzo was significantly more stable.

The head is well made, and locks like a vault; there are some odd things with its design though, like no locking for the knobs (you can unscrew them completely), or the somewhat flimsy friction knob.

The claims about the special ball coating doesn't really translate to smooth rolling.

Overall it's a very solid, and tough ball head that can probably withstand lots of abuse; a professional head I suppose.

Very compact, but sturdy. It just feels like quality.

I was looking for a tripod that gives great stability, is light weight and compact enough to carry when hiking in the wilderness, and has good height. While it's a little heavier than some comparably sized tripods it's plenty light enough for my purposes. It has the Gitzo rugged build and great stability. And the ability to collapse the legs upward around the extended center column makes it small enough to attach to or even fit in a backpack.

This tripod is outstanding. Holds my Z7ii with Z 100-400 solid. I prefer the 25 degree leg angle to some of the narrower tripods out there. The base height with center column down is perfect for me (5'7"). All leg locks and center column locks have a short throw and lock down solid. Very well designed and manufactured piece of equipment. Note: running the Gitzo ball head allows for the smallest folded diameter ( I ran an off brand ball head on a Gitzo GT1555t and it didn't fold quite as tight). BH ordering and shipping is always fast and the -$170 holiday savings was a pleasant surprise.

I own about two dozen tripods as it is but for a two month assignment to the Faroe Islands I needed as much support in a lightweight package as I could get. In short, this tripod exceeded expectations, I used it with a Hasselblad V system shooting black and white film. It supported larger setups like the 501CM+350mm+1.4X converter with ease. I did also buy the short and long spike kits as I knew I would be working on very steep and slippery terrain. I did tie a few prusik loops onto the shoulders so I could more easily anchor the tripod in what were often very windy conditions. With the spike kits and dedicated Arca plates this was a fairly pricey investment but it paid off like I can not believe.

Purchased this for my wife to use. Light weight and compact. Something my 5'2 wife can carry on her camera pack and not be overloaded. The integrated head with compact fold is perfect for trips where I need to pack very light.
Highly recommend.

I'm very happy with how stable this tripod is. No surprise as the legs are quite chunky. the head is small and easy to move even though I would prefer if the fluid mechanism was a little more dampened. It's either too stiff or too loose. The one I tried in the store was better and my hope is that within a few weeks/months of use it will get more smooth. expensive tripod but if you make your money with it its totally worth
