If you graduated from guitarist to studio engineer, and you have no idea what to do with all these stompboxes you spent years collecting, the Radial Engineering EXTC Stereo is the box for you. This little tank of a unit will be the go between from your studio-level gear to your instrument-level pedalboard. Use your favorite flanger as a mixing effect, or breathe new life into recorded DI (directly inputted) guitars by reamping them.
All the inputs and outputs you need are built into the box. You'll also find level controls on both the send and receive paths to properly gainstage your gear, so you get the optimum volume going into your stompboxes, and coming out from them as well. All of this will let you use your gear in exciting new ways.

On the front panel, you'll find the instrument-level I/O jacks for your pedals. Send signal out to your pedals from the send jacks, and plug your pedals' outputs into the receive jack(s). On the rear is your combination balanced I/O, which feeds your studio gear. Now, you can use your pedals as an insert effect on any mix.
In addition to its I/O path, the EXTC Stereo offers level controls on both the send and return jacks, so you can drive your pedals as hard as you'd like, or attenuate the levels coming back from your pedalboard. A Dry/Wet Mix control lets you blend the dry and processed signals. Also, you can invert the polarity for extra tonal options with modulation effects, or for better sound when combining a dry DI with a reamped signal.
The EXTC-Stereo gives you the ability to connect stereo stompboxes and effects pedals to the line-level I/O of your recording interface, console, or mixer. Use it to send drum overheads to a multitap delay, or breathe new life into a stale keyboard patch with a modulation effect. Dust off that old Moogerfooger and really put it to good use. Try it on vocals, strings, or any prerecorded track to add a new creative element to your mixes and revitalize your old pedal collection.
Take a dry track, send it to the EXTC-Stereo, and it can now feed your pedals with signal. You can now reamp a guitar part, or add a new creative element to your mixes, all while taking new advantage of your old pedal collection.

Q: 1. Hi! I would like to connect a XLR 48v phantom power mic to my Gh5S for better sound. Would this item work for that???
A: Yes, this is designed for exactly that use.
Q: 2. If I plug audio into the RCA Inputs, Does audio come out of both the RCA's and XLR Connections at the same time?
A: Yes. All outputs are active simultaneously.
Q: 3. Can this unit accept a direct microphone feed from a press conference without a mult box? And is it powered by batteries?
A: The Radial Engineering Exo-Pod Broadcast Splitter with XLR & 3.5mm Connections is designed to accept a balanced line-level signal from a mixer or similar device. It does not require power.
Q: 4. Hey! I have a Sennheiser MD 46 dynamic microphone. Do you know if the preamps in the linkflex-ad2 are good enough to boost this dynamic microphone? I would like to use the linkflex to connect the MD 46 to an iPhone (and possibly my good old Zoom H2). Would that work?
A: As previosly answered: 6249490Approved The Linkflex specs show up tp 20dB of gain. which may be enough gain, depending on your subjects volume level. One question is, how much electronic noise will be added to the signal? Another question is, how will the MD46 sound if you must turn the Linflex up to full level on its level control. A big part of how a microphone will sound, is the impedance of the mic pre (the Linkflex) amplifier. The noise spec is not listed in the spec sheet, so I would be weary of this. It may be a lot to include, but this is the reason these; Cloudlifter CL-1, are included in the signal chain with dynamic mics, to improve, not only gain, but performance... Q: 6. Maximum Cat5 cable length?
A: Hello John,Thank you for your interest in Radial. Using shielded Cat5e cable, we have successfully tested lengths of 100 meters (328 ft) without signal loss. Regards,Ryan
Q: 7. Does this unit work standalone or does it have to be used with the Broadcast Press Box?
A: This broadcast audio splitter can be used a stand-alone unit, and only requires a balanced XLR input from a mixing board or other source. .
Q: 8. since this is passive, does it only output mic level? Or can the outputs also be Line level?
A: The XLR pass throughs are mic level, and the 3.5mm audio outs are line level.
Q: 9. Do I need this for monitoring from my computer to monitors? I have my comp usb interfaced to my Mbox to my speakers. Super simple set up.. can I benefit from using this item?
A: This product will not be useful for your set-up. Your USB audio interface is already handling the MATCHBOX HD's tasks.
Q: 10. Thanks for the review man, I have question about MIDI recording. So can I play my MIDI keyboard thru this mixer only, with no usage of audio interface and have low latency?
A: Unfortunately the ZED-10FX isn't capable of receiving or transmitting MIDI information. The USB interface on the console can only be used to record or playback up to 4 channels of audio. If your keyboard does produce audio, then yes, you could use one of the stereo 1/4" inputs on the console to record that audio signal via USB.
