Create memorable images with a circular spot of focus surrounded by a beautifully blurred background with the Composer Pro II with Soft Focus II 50 Optic from Lensbaby. Available here with a Canon RF-mount, this special effects lens is completely compatible with the established Optic Swap System and can use any of the numerous optics available. The Composer Pro II features a tilt function that ranges from 0-15° in any direction, and the updated Soft Focus II 50 Optic adds a 12-blade manually adjustable internal aperture to its versatile drop-in magnetic aperture system. Opened up to its brighter aperture settings, the Soft Focus II 50 Optic creates dreamlike impressionistic images with a subdued color palette and a remarkably flat field of focus. Stopped down to f/8 or darker, the lens creates beautifully detailed and sharp images with a large central area of focus and out-of-focus edges on full-frame sensors.

    Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would it work with the z mount adaptor as well?

    A: Yes.

Q: 2. Will this work on the SOnya6000?

A: the lens baby site has a compatibility chart for sony cameras. It says it will work but you have to turn off the shutter lock

Q: 3. Can I see my own Shutter Speed and ISO when using the Composer Pro II and the Sweet 50 Optic on my Canon 5D Mark IV?

    A: Yes.

Q: 4. How much smaller is the focal plane of this lens on a crop sensor camera than it is on a full frame camera?

A: A 50mm lens on a Canon crop sensor camera would be roughly equal to using an 80mm lens if you are comparing it to 35mm film or a full frame sensor camera. It does not matter if it is a Lensbaby 50mm or a Canon 50mm or a Canon 18-55mm set to the 50mm range. They will all have the same focal length.

Q: 5. Is it compatible with Nikon d300s?

A: Yes, the Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic for Nikon F-mount is compatible with your Nikon D300s camera. It will work in Aperture Priority mode and your in-camera light meter will work or you can shoot in Manual mode.

Q: 6. Is the composer pro ii compatible with the macro filter kit?

A: Yes the Composer Pro II is compatible with the Lensbaby Macro Conversion Kit.

Q: 7. We shoot both Canon and Nikon in my house. Is it safe to assume tht the optics are interchangeable regardless of camera body mount?

A: If you have a Lensbaby lens mount designed for use with Lensbaby's Optic Swap System, and have one for each camera brand (one for Nikon, one for Canon), then yes, the Sweet 50 Optic included with the Lensbaby Composer Pro II can be interchanged between lens mounts. The current lens mounts that are compatible for use with Lensbaby's Optic Swap System would be the Lensbaby Spark, Lensbaby Straight Body, and the Lensbaby Composer Pro II lens mounts.

Q: 8. Does this lens work with the Nikon D 3200?

A: Yes the Lensbaby Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic for Nikon F works with the Nikon D3200 camera. But you need to set the camera to Manual mode.

Q: 9. I have a lensbaby sweet 56 and purchased it to create the effect of a sharp prime image with blur surrounding. It is a very nice lens, but it doesnt seem to do any more than my 50 mm normal. Open wide and shoot. Same effect. Is this lens any different as far as achieving a blur around the outside? Does it only allow you to move the sweet spot, yet still utilizing a wide open aperture to get the blurring effect? In other words, will my 50mm prime create the same effect? (Except, of course) the sweet spot movement.

A: We don't have a Sweet 56. We have a Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic (pictured here) or we have a Velvet 56 which is a stand alone lens. Two different products and effects. The Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic (pictured here) is 50mm, will give you a sweet spot of focus surrounded by a soft blur. Adjust the aperture for more or less of the soft blur. The Composer Pro II is optic swappable so you can take the Sweet 50 Optic out and put in a new optic for a new effect. It also has a ball-joint so you can move the sweet spot around your frame. If you have issues with a different lens of ours, feel free to reach out directly to Lensbaby and we're happy to help.

Q: 10. Is this a good place to start to use Lensbaby lenses to photograph interesting close ups of flowers? I have a Nikon D7500.

A: I will try as best I can. I am an amateur myself here are a few suggestions. First, what your talking about is macrophotography and while Lens Baby lenses can do this type of photography from what I know they are more specialty lenses. The Composer Pro as well as other lenses by "Lens Baby" let you change the point of focus. I myself prefer to use a good macro lens One technique I plan on using is called HDR photography. Photoshop has a limited capability which I plan on experimenting with. My first results are good but depending on you budget you can get other plug ins. My own philosophy is to use high quality macro optics and then use automated focusing rails (my future plans). Art(which photography is) is matter of creativity so you have to decide what is right for you and then get the right equipment based on your budget.
