Designed for up to 8K cine-style image capture, the Canon EF-mount 15mm T2.6 Cine Lens from IRIX incorporates multiple internal and external design features. This compact 15mm lens will produce a classic wide-angle look and is compatible with full-frame 35, Super35, RED DRAGON 6K, ARRI ALEXA, APS-C, Micro Four Thirds, Super 16, and additional sensors. External features include a 95mm front diameter, 0.8 MOD gears, luminous focus marks in feet, and a detachable 1/4"-20 support foot.

Internally, nine blades produce smooth, rounded bokeh, and four seals protect against inclement weather and dust. To help eliminate aberrations and distortion, the IRIX 15mm T2.6 Cine Lens is constructed with 15 optical elements including three HRI (high refractive index), two ED (extra-low dispersion), and two ASP (aspherical) elements. An adaptive focus ring delivers smooth focusing whether used manually or with a lens motor. This lightweight, aluminum/magnesium alloy lens has 180° of focus and 75° of iris rotation, and an 86mm front filter thread. The Canon EF-mount 15mm T2.6 Cine Lens includes front and rear caps.

Q: 10. Would this lens be used for astrophotography?

A: You could use this lens for astrophotography, but it would not commonly be used for that, as there is no use for a macro lens in that area. However, it would function well if you wanted to use a telephoto, rather than a wide-angle, lens.

And much lighter than a Canon 100mm macro. The extra 50mm is ideal for macro work. The lack of stabilization is a non-issue as macro work always requires a tripod. Well-constructed and seemingly durable at a very good price. Recommended.

I.Q. is sharp, but lens is heavy.
You'll need a tripod, esp for macro shot.
Lens is very good quality.

Very happy with this impressive, well-built, sturdy macro-lens. The packaging is nothing less than luxurious. I like the tripod support which is something valuable. I don't care that it is not an auto-focusing lens, for who really uses the autofocus in macrophotography, anyway? Focusing is precise and the images very sharp, indeed. It is a great value for its price and its rendition.
