It works seamlessly but it is clearly designed for use with a laptop, iPad or iPhone. To use it with my iMac Retina, which I use for post production on all of my photographs, I have to have a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C Female to Type-A Male Adapter. Because the USB ports are on the back of the iMac and this has a very short cable, it must dangle out the back of the iMac in the air and is difficult to plug in. So it works perfectly but I sure would love a design made for a desktop production computer that features both a USB 3.1 plug and a longer cable. Hope that helps. B&H sells the Roctor USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C Female to Type-A Male Adapter for an additional $5.99 over the initial $39 for the reader. It also works seamlessly with the reader. 5
