The Ikelite DS162 TTL Underwater Strobe, with a US charger, is the long-standing choice of professionals who need a strobe that can be relied on to perform over and over. Made of a lightweight polycarbonate-ABS blend, the DS162 emits a beam designed for proper spread and color temperature with no need for a light-reducing diffuser. Along with flash, the strobe can deliver a 2500-lumen COB LED beam for video work. Large, click-stop dial controls provide intuitive, tactical feedback of exposure settings and are easy to use even when wearing gloves. A slide lock prevents the strobe from accidentally turning on when not in use. The NiMH battery pack attaches quickly and easily with a unique toggle lock that prevents accidental floods. You don't even need to lubricate the O-ring. The strobe front is compatible with older NiMH battery packs #4066.5 or the DS230 strobe battery pack #40066BK.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are you sure this has a guide number of 72?

A: The Olympus UFL-3 Underwater Strobe Flash guide number is 22m or 72' at ISO 100 when used above water at full power. Olympus only list the guide number in meters, above water.

Q: 2. Will this work with the B&H # SHM7 MFR # M7 ?

A: No, the SmallHD 12V-2A US Power Supply for Select SmallHD Monitors produces 12V 2A, and the Shimbol M7 7" Touchscreen 4K HDMI/3G-SDI Video Monitor with 3D LUT Output requires a 16VDC input.

Q: 3. hi, when using shotgun mic like MKE 600 or MKH 416 does it still need XLR cable to connect to P1 or you can just plug directly?

A: Plugging a microphone directly into an XLR input jack is never recommended. Remember that, by the principle of leverage, the force exerted on the connector will be proportional to the length of the mic. You can very quickly end up damaging the pins, or even the jack itself, and when phantom power is involved you also risk a short circuit if this happens. Always use a cable, even if it is a very short cable with low-profile connectors.

Q: 4. Could I use this unit directly in between Sennheiser MKH416 mic and Sennheiser G3 Plug-on transmitter to transmit audio?

A: Yes, it is possible to use the Xvive Audio P1 Portable Phantom Power Supply to connect a Sennheiser MKH 416 Shotgun Microphone to a Sennheiser SKP 100 G3 Plug-On Wireless Transmitter.

Q: 5. How bright is that this flash ? Can it be used as a light source as well ?

A: The UFL-3 has a guide number of 22 at ISO 100, It is strictly a flash unit for still images, it has no continuous light for video

Q: 6. Whether the output can be directly inserted into the camera Mic jack to shoot video?

A: The output of this portable phantom power pack can be connected to any mic level audio input with an XLR connector, including cameras, interfaces, and audio recorders.

Q: 7. is this device can power 12t microphone?

A: The Xvive Audio P1 Portable Phantom Power Supply with Rechargeable Battery supplies 12 or 48V of phantom power, but does not supply 12V of T power. Although phantom power will not generally damage a T-powered microphone, they use different circuitry and T-power microphones cannot be properly used with phantom power supplies. A recommended T-power product can be found in the Denecke Dcode PS-T Microphone Power Supply (BH #DEPST): https://bhpho.to/3vd9fT2

Q: 8. Want to mount this to a camera cage/handle somehow; any cinch sort of harness or other creative solution, perhaps with 1/4 20 mounting screws?

A: You could use straps like the Pearstone 0.5 x 12" Touch Fastener Straps (Black, 10-Pack (B&H # PES051210B) to attach the Xvive Audio P1 Portable Phantom Power Supply. As another option to use a 1/4"-20 mounting screw, you can use the Impact Super Clamp with T-Handle (B&H # IMCC106T), which comes with an Impact Standard Stud for Super Clamp with 1/4"-20 Male Threads (B&H # IMSRP102).

Q: 9. Compatible with Godox transmitter?

A: No, the Neewer Q4 TTL Flash Strobe is not compatible for use with Godox-branded wireless transmitters. You would have to purchase the Neewer QPRO TTL Wireless Triggers designed for use with the above light fixtures. The available options for Canon, Nikon, and Sony cameras are listed on the link included below. https://bhpho.to/3NpAHGi

Q: 10. Can this be used such as: mic - P1 - FetHead - recorder? I'm looking to boost a quiet mic more than the FetHead Phantom can, but then still supply phantom to a condenser mic.

A: If your recorder does not supply phantom power, the Xvive Audio P1 Portable Phantom Power Supply can help with your setup. The phantom power from this P1 power supply would pass through a Fethead Phantom, to your microphone which needs it. Please contact us at audio@bhphoto.com for more advice specific to the microphone you have, and the sounds you are trying to capture.

The Turbo 3 is about the fastest battery i've used and most dependable. It is lightweight and is clamped onto my light stand for easy mobility. I use two T5R for off camera lighting on all of my events as well as location head shots.

I think I have,in the past, okayed this product. However, I have had three units for 2 1/2 yrs now. They must have each charged around 30,000 cycles at least with no reduction in performance. The newer locking leads are fine. Construction is good. They are reliable and thought out work-horses in my gang of equipment. Worth ordering more of the plastic cable clips if you can - they don't last as you would expect but that is fine as they do the job without damaging the cables. They are used with Canon EX600s, are flown all over the place, and still work at the other end. They are packed into one food box with a clipped lid, which is then packed into a 15 year old large pelican case along with other food boxes crammed with equipment with a weight of exactly 32Kgs. This is important in respect of air travel. I have never had a breakage of anything (inc the Turbo 3s) during freight. The units last all day during location corporate shoots - mainly in oil & gas, telecommunications, medical and educational shoots. I use seven speed lights now instead of three mains strobes - advantages: no mains supply required, work outside, leads confined to the respective stands, with swivel heads and zoom capability there is more flexibility. The total combination is less heavy than the strobes I used to use.

This is a fine and durable product. I have tested it only at home and everything works as expected. Planning to buy a back-up in the near future.

Purchased this to replace one of my older Turbo's and I love it!! It's lighter and has two ports instead of one on my older battery. Only down side is I'm spoiled now and need to buy another.

Using this in the professional field it was nice not having to have my assistant go runing for another battery. Still had half power after a full wedding using a qflash

I have owned several Quantum power packs before ,however this turbo 3 seems to be the most efficient one yet. It allows me to power both my Qflash and my DSLR at the same time with sufficient power for both. I did a project with it and got recycle time on Qflash of about 1.5 seconds wihile supplying steady power for the DSLR also. It works for me.
