Based on the classic Triplet design and an aperture consisting of 15 steel blades, the Trioplan 100 f2.8 II produces the famous soapbubble bokeh and a unique sharpness curve from the focused area to the background. The optimized construction now offers improved haptics, especially with regard to the aperture setting, as well as even better contrast and sharpness characteristics. The company's own glass lens production and the production of high-precision mechanical components through German partner companies ensure the best possible quality. The resulting noiseless focusing is particularly popular with videographers. In addition, the Trioplan 100 is manufactured for the most common mounts of modern cameras: Canon EF, Nikon F, Fuji X, Sony E, Pentax K, M42, Micro-Four-Thirds, Leica M and Leica L.

The Trioplan's strengths lie in nature and portrait photography. It offers balanced sharpness with a particularly attractive soap bubble bokeh, which is achieved at f2.8 especially in backlighting situations. The blur areas are also impressively painted with smaller f-numbers. If macro-rings are used, the Trioplan can achieve an image scale of up to 2:1 so that it can be used for artistic macro shots

I've been thrilled doing some lakeside photography with this lens... not only does it have good reach, but the images are very clear and sharp. Color comes out unblemished (which I can't say with other zooms). Very happy with this lens.

Great size and weight for an old man. It is a pleasure to use while taking wild lift photos. Use it as my primary lens most every day. A great value.

I don't know why more people aren't recommending this lens. It is lightweight, sharp, has great reach and macro capabilities. It's so easy to throw on the camera and take around on our family adventures and hikes. I'm so glad I picked this up and can't wait to continue using it.

My inaugural outing and I photographed an Osprey coming out of the water with a fish in its talons. Spend money on trips not gear and be amazed.

I have this lens on my Canon R7. So, I have an effective field of view of 160mm-640mm. This lens covers such a wide focal length on a crop sensor which makes it perfect for wildlife and sports. However, this lens can be used for so much more.

Although it may be considered a slow lens, ISO performance of cameras have come a long way. So, there's no need to feel leery about a 6.3 aperture. Surprisingly, and not thought of as such, but this lens can also be used as a portrait lens. With such a great range of focal length, take advantage of is by zooming into your subject. The lens renders beautiful looking backgrounds and combined with telephoto compression; you'll get excellent separation of your subject to background.

It's a light lens which might make one feel like they are not holding something that's built well. However, don't be fooled. The lens is built well enough to take it in most types of weather. I would not use this lens in a steady rain without a raincoat over the lens though.

Focusing is surprisingly fast, quiet and accurate on the R7 which makes it ideal to catch those fleeting moments.

- Great value
-Sharp Images
-Great close focus Macro images with a comfortable amount of working room.
-Lightweight

My expectations were somewhat low with this lens given its price and f8 maximum aperture. But I decided to go for it to get a lightweight wildlife lens to hike with. Coupled with the R7 it gives me a 640mm equivalent angle of view in a lens that weighs 1.5 lb. I was pleasantly surprised to find out the image quality that was possible with this lens! The IBIS couple with the lens' stabilization make handholding quite easy down to 1/60th, the close focus ability and image quality was a very pleasant surprise! I can't think of a lens that has so far exceeded my expectations as this one. Buy it. You won't regret it.

For as light as this lens is it works amazingly. I use it on a crop sensor camera, so I get a little extra reach. The price is right if you are looking for a good Canon lens to go with your Canon mirrorless camera.

Love this lens. So much lighter weight than my old EF 100-400 L lens. I actually think the photos are better than those taken with my L lens, probably due to being able to handle it so much easier. Works well with Canon R7.
